Hey Everybody, It's A New Episode Of Chris, Why Would You Eat That?!!

In this episode Chris tries some very dodgy snacks that claim to  be Italian, and made of potato.  At this point we're not even sure they're supposed to be food.

This Week In Candy... Sorry It's Really Late

If you've been keeping up with our Facebook and Twitter lately, you'll know that I got a serious dose of food poisoning.  If you've been keeping up with Candy Critic over the last few years, you'll know that I've had several serious doses of food over the last few years.  This is likely because I've been in many places where food hygiene is not really as big a deal as in North America.  You could say it's my own fault, but to be honest only a few times has it been caused by a "sketchy" food choice (one of which was featured in an episode of "Chris, Why Would You Eat That?!!").  Most often the food that gets me is the surprises, the food I thought was safe, but as it turns out.  I plan on writing an article about that which will either appear here on this blog or in a newspaper or magazine.

As for what's happening here on Candy Critic, we're starting to get everything back in order, and going to push out as much as we can this week, as we had planned. Our two regular weekly posts Candy In The Media, and our Candy Thing, will be out as regular.  We're also releasing a new episode of "Chris, Why Would You Eat That?!! which we recorded in advance.  The only thing that's completely off this week is Snack Facts, our Instagram feed.  We'll be back next week with new posts, and I think it's going to be food poisoning related.

We also just managed to post our new review.  It was a simple review we had on the back burner, for just such an occasion.  All I can tell you is that if you're disappointed by the late review, you're not nearly as disappointed as I was about this chocolate bar.  Click here to read why.

I've seen monkeys roller skating, and I've seen them smoking cigars, but this is the first time I've ever seen one chewing bubble gum.

This Week In Candy

It's a bit of a crazy mixed up day today. I can't really explain why, but I just feel like there's so much going on, and nothing seems to be in order. Maybe writing out our plans for the week on this very blog will help me sort everything out.  That or it might just overwhelm me and send me back to bed for the rest of the day.

This week we have our regular posts, our Candy Thing on Wednesday, and Candy in the Media on Friday.  We're also going to be posting a new episode of Junk Fud On The Road, co-hosted by Allison.  This week's episode is all about Germany, a fine place to get chocolate and other fun treats. After all of this, we're also going to be focusing on some writing projects, they're a little "top secret" right now, but hopefully you'll know about them in the near future.

This week, on Snack Facts (our Instagran feed), we're going to look at baking.  Every day this week we'll post a new fact, that you might even consider a tip, on baking.  You can follow Snack Facts on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook to learn a fun fact every day this week.

We also have this week's new review, and there's a bonus. The bonus is of coarse that this week's review is part one of a  review-a-thon. All this week we're posting a new review every day, and the theme is Fazer.  For those unfamiliar, Fazer is a very famous Finnish brand of chocolate bars. While they're not well known in North America, in Europe they're all over the place, and for good reason.  Fazer makes some very high quality chocolate, and you'll see by this week's reviews, well worth sampling yourself. Click here to read the latest review, and follow us on Twitter or Facebook to keep up with this week's Fazer review-a-thon.

This Week In Candy

This is a busy week here at Candy Critic because we've got a lot of content to put together for the rest of the summer and early fall.  Why do you ask is all of this prep-work necessary?  Well we're moving... again.  Although many of you have no idea where we are right now, all I can say is that we're in Asia somewhere.  The thing is, we're going back home, to Canada, and we're leaving sometime this summer.  We'll have a stop over in Florida as well to enjoy the happiest place on earth Disney World. What that means for this blog, and Candy Critic is that we have pre-prep a lot of content.  We don't want things empty while we're moving.

Our first goal, which has been met, and that was to make Candy Critic portable.  We can now update Candy Critic, and this very blog (as well as our video show and podcast) from just about anywhere with an internet connection. Our next step was to get our regular posts ready to go while we were in transition, that's done too.  So while we're moving you'll still see our weekly regular posts including our Candy Thing and Candy In The Media.  Our last goal, which will be working on this week, and likely next week, is to get future episodes of our podcast Junk Fud, our video show Chris, Why Would You Eat That?!!, and some special posts for the blog read to go and pre-posted as much as possible.  All this and we're still writing and keeping up things for this week as well.

Speaking of this week, on Snack Facts, our Instagram feed, we'll be looking at my favorite Canadian flavour, maple syrup.  All this week on Snack Facts we'll be posting fun facts about the greatest sugar in the world.  You can follow Snack Facts on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

And just because we're super busy,  doesn't let us off the hook for today's new review.  We've decided to post a classic Canadian candy in honour of our homecoming.  It may not seem like a classic Canadian treat, but all Canadian kids are very familiar with any of the Maynards gummies.  Click here to read this great review.

This Week In Candy

Well it was bound to happen one day, the old girl gave out.  I'm not one to update my computers often, I hold onto them until they completely give out. Yesterday my desktop computer, that had to be more than 7 years old finally gave it her last.  While that isn't the only computer I use to run my very meager internet empire, it did serve certain functions, that will have to be moved to other computers. I'll miss that computer as it served me well, and deserves better than an instantaneous blue screen of death every time I turn it on.  What this means for Candy Critic is not totally clear yet. There might be a few delays as I update this temporary laptop to do my bidding.  I was already in the process of updating this laptop, but there were a few things left to do. As a result this week's new review is either going to be delayed or not posted till next week.

Just because my computer is down, doesn't mean we're going to stop with "all" of our fun antics.  Along with our regular posts here, including our weekly Candy Thing on Wednesday and Candy In The Media on Friday, we'll also be back on track with the Junk Fud podcast.  This week's episode of Junk Fud will be Junk Fud News featuring a look back June and all of the fun junk food stuff that happened.

We're also going to go ahead with Snack Facts, our Instagram feed.  This week we're looking at classic treats that aren't American.  I know all you Americans out there are celebrating your independence, and I hope you have a great day.  Just remember, some of the greatest American treats were gifts from other nations. If you want to keep up with Snack Facts, you can follow it daily on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

Now, can anybody recommend a good piece of video editing software that's free, and works well on a laptop?
