Made at Home

I discovered a post in a fun little blog called Maman & Gourmand where Christine shares her adventures in making classic candies at home. I’ve seen people do this before but I always think it’s a great idea. Some people like this idea because they figure they can reduce sugars or increase the general quality of their non-store bought treat but that’s not why I like the idea of re-made classic treats. I always imagine myself making mega treats, like the world’s largest peanut butter cup, or a snickers bar 4 feet long. Hey a Candy Critic can dream can’t he?

Hmmm, I’m not really sure how to react to this comment. Well I didn’t actually hear of this particular event having ever taken place so I can’t really comment. I can say that I’ve heard that there really has never been a case of children ever finding poison, razor blades, or anything wrong with Halloween treats ever in North America. That is to say that as far as I know this whole idea of people trying to poison kids is a myth. However I do think that it is important to make sure that this remains a myth and it is always better to error on the side of caution. After all if we call get too complacent then someone will sneak in and ruin the fun that is Halloween.
