The Best Dairy Queen Day Ever

As you may know I have a real soft spot for ice cream. It wouldn't be fair to say that I crave it once in a while, I pretty much crave it all of the time. On a walk through downtown Ottawa I decided that a Dairy Queen dipped cone was in order, what was to happen after this was pure magic. It was pretty busy at the Dairy Queen that day many a Blizzard flying through. The dip cones where apparently not that popular and the lady serving me seemed a little uncomfortable making me a dip cone.

All went well until she did the flick of the wrist to right my upside down cone and the ice cream fell like a blob into the chocolate dip. She managed to fish out the ice cream and she tried once again. The second attempt went a little worse than the first as the ice cream fell long before she could flip it. The manager (or so I assume) intervened and she could not get it right either. By this point I had been waiting for about 10 or 15 minutes.

The staff was really nice about the whole thing and offered me a sundae or something for my time. Allison isn't really into ice cream treats like me so another sundae seemed silly. They also asked if I wanted to change my mind and go with another treat. Frankly Allison and I where greatly entertained by what was going. Allison did happen to notice an ingredient in one of the Blizzards that interested her and she asked if she could try it out. Instead one of the nice ladies at the Dairy Queen made Allison a tiny little Blizzard with the cheesecake ingredient.

At this point the manager realized that maybe the ice cream was in fact not cold enough to handle the dip. She closed down one of the ice cream machines (so it would have more time to chill) and soon a dip cone was in my hands. The staff at Dairy Queen was great and the manager was on the ball figuring out the problem. Good Times for all.
