food for a blizzard

Today Ottawa woke up to a big snow storm. It looks like this:
































All of this snow meant that the appointment I had a 8:40am was cancelled, freeing up my day somewhat.  And what better way to combat the elements that to make something starchy, creamy, aromatic, and sweet? I eat unusual things for breakfast, and today would be no different. Rice pudding time!

I used this recipe from the Smitten Kitchen: arborio rice pudding and it worked perfectly. Although having given the bay leaf a try, I don't think I'll add it next time I make this.
