Nothing is nicer than sitting down with a couple of friends enjoying a nice sweet treat. In this case the sweet treat is a great selection of pastries from Varsos bakery in Kifasia Greece, but even when the sweet treat is a chunk of chocolate, or an ice cream sundae, it's great to sit back and really indulge yourself with friends. It's a great opportunity to enjoy the company of your friends, as well as really enjoy the sweet treat that you're indulging in.
The only thing that makes this situation even better is the perfect drink. For me, this perfect drink is a slightly warm cup of tea with no milk or sugar. The slight bitterness of the tea cuts through any sweetness of your treats. It's also a great drink to cleanse the palette between bites, this is particularly nice if you happen to be eating several different kinds of sweets in one sitting. Tea goes with just about any sweet category that I can think of as well. Though strangely tea flavoured sweets often don't work well at all. I really think the liquid aspect of the tea is just as important as the flavour, maybe even more so. So, what's your favorite drink pairing with sweets?
