This Week In Candy

Candy News - With the crazy heat wave hitting most of the world, it appears that ice cream sales are up.  The creative trend in this ice cream market seems to be wacky and strange flavours.  Many places seem to be offering savory as well as sweet ice creams.  With this trend, I'm also seeing a lot of DIY ice cream making on the internet.  I guess the ice cream manufactures are just having too much trouble keeping up with these trendy new flavours.

What's Happening At Candy Critic - We're planning a big adventure later this year, it's not really candy related, but it will inspire I'm sure.  I'm also working on my strange marshmallow creation, I hope to primier it sometime this summer at a future bewarethecheese.com art show.

Rant - Summer is here, and chocolate bars all over the world are melting... or are they.  Candy scientists seem to have it in their minds that creating a chocolate that does not melt, will make many candy consumers extremely happy.  I'm here to tell them that it won't.  It is impossible to make a chocolate that melts in the mouth and not in the sun.  Frankly, even if the chocolate tastes great, but doesn't melt, it's not great chocolate.  In fact, I'd say that the melting aspect of chocolate is one of its finer qualities.  So give up science, and stop making lousy chocolate.
