Um… yeah.

It would appear that I’m totally out of the loop when it comes to Internet items that become big things. I am but apparently Dr. Pepper isn’t. This guy has a whole bunch of stuff online and I’m not sure why, but this video is all about Chocolate (and sex I think), and it was made by and features a lot of Dr. Pepper. Does this mean I’m in the loop now?

Smok’em if you got’em

While digging through my basement the other day I came across this interesting little gem. At first it would appear to be a matchbook declaring its dislike of smoking in restaurants. Ironic no?

When you flip it over you see an interesting statistic. Did you also know that 9 out of 10 people in Toronto eat hot dogs? Now that’s a statistic, well in that I just made it up.

The cool thing, and probably not that shocking since I gave this “match book” so much hype is that there are in fact no matches at all. There’s just a little mint to enjoy after not smoking. I’m just glad I didn’t pack these as camping matches, my breath would have been fresh but my meat would be raw.

Updated Gummy Bear Shirt

In association with Zazzle.comI’ve updated the latest gummy bear shirt, but don’t worry if you liked the old version I’ll leave it up for sale as well.

Click on the picture to pick one up.

Heart of hearts

Artist Nathan Sawaya made this cool lifelike heart out of candy hearts. It’s artistic, anatomically correct, and yummy all at the same time. That’s a triple threat!

U-P-D-A-T-E Day!

So why would I pick something like this as my review, I mean it’s a simple treat, nothing that “special” about it. It’s a staple around Halloween and at theatres… wait a minute maybe I’m using this “theatre” snack review to plug a film that a friend of mine is in. Maybe I’m going to drop a name and say that my friend was in the newest movie with that famous person. Maybe I still haven’t actually gone to see this movie and I feel really bad about it so I figure I’d plug it on my blog, not that it needs it because it’s a huge film.
Go see Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium my friend Rebecca is in it.

NEW PHOTO ALERT!

Just wanted to show off this new photo I added to the store. I’m really happy with it and for only 20 bucks you could have a limited print of it hanging in your house.

Feeling hot, hot, hot. Part 2 (or Warm Dr Pepper)

So tonight Allison and I decided to go out for a little walk. As it turns out the weather report called for cold icy rain. So when we got home let’s just say we where a little frozen.

With a bottle of Dr. Pepper in the fridge I figure I’d put into action my latest online discovery (one I had posted on November 15th), warm Dr. Pepper.

So turning my stove to a somewhat low temperature. I was worried about boiling the Dr. Pepper too quickly and ending up with syrup. I started my little experiment.

At first nothing really seemed to happen, not that I expected much to happen too soon at a low heat.

But quickly I noticed that the Dr. Pepper started to really fizz up. I figured this meant that my warm Dr. Pepper was going to be pretty flat. As soon as I started to see steam I decided it was time to take it off. I also decided that this particular pot was really stained.

The verdict? Basically it tastes like really sweet tea. I keep thinking back to when I was a kid and I used to have tea with the grown ups but I didn’t like the taste of tea. My solution was to put about 12 sugars in it so the bitterness would go away. That’s pretty much what this tasted like. I was just happy it didn’t taste like warm cough syrup.

Happy National Cookie Week

Or so the people at Emily’s Chocolates tell me:

“Hi Chris,

The fourth week of November (18 - 24) marks the return of National Cookie Week! In celebration, family-owned Emily's Chocolates has dedicated a special cookie for each day of the week."

http://www.emilyschocolates.com/

I was also hoping that since I gave them a plug they might send me one of their chocolate covered fortune cookies to help me celebrate.

Guess what I got?

On Friday a fun little box came in the mail.

I opened it up…

And it was filled with all kinds of chocolate covered pretzels.

They had them covered with peanuts, sprinkles, white, and dark chocolate. I’m so happy!
Thanks people at Oh! Nuts. And by the way Allison really likes your cool Oh! Nuts tape.

One Love, and I think it’s chocolate.

I’m glad we finished that review every day thing, but I’ll do it again I’m sure. This weeks review mixes two cultures you never really think of having anything in common, but that’s why candy is great, it breaks down walls. I have this theory that some day all the world will be at peace because of candy, I also have a theory about x-ray glasses that really work.

Feeling hot, hot, hot!

Well today I’m a little freaked out. I’m going for my drivers licence and my mind is a little in the clouds. I did however come across this article about hot Dr Pepper on Retro Thing and thought I’d share. I’m thinking of picking up a bottle tonight and trying it out. That is if I’m in the mood after the test.

Rocket Man

Allison just got back from France and she picked me up all kinds of cool things. Many where candy related, some stuff members will find in their next package. On her way back she picked me up this awesome little bag of chips on her flight.

Not only do they have a cool drawing of a rocket ship. I mean that’s enough if you ask me.

But the name and promise made on it is awesome. Just in case you can’t read it the French says “Chips that give you wings” or something to that effect. I guess the only thing bad about these is the corn chips themselves. They really didn’t impress me at all.

And now I sleep

Well we’re back to something we like to call regular updates here at Candy Critic. That means no more reviews for me first thing in the morning, and more importantly it means a little less sugar in my system for a while. Now I know this site is all about candy but once in a while I do enjoy a salad. I’m glad we ended on this review, because hey orange mint is something we can all agree on… wait a minute, no we can’t!

My Pez gives me nightmares

Tired of the same old Pez dispensers, I mean there are thousands to choose from but many lack edge. They’re mostly a bunch of licensed characters just sitting around acting in what ever way they acted in their movie. Well the people at this site have taken their Pez dispensers to a new and strange place. I’m not sure if I’m repulsed or turned on.

Tomorrow is like a regular update day only I’ve been doing updates every day already.

That pretty much sums it up. Tomorrow marks the end of this little test, and to be honest it was pretty successful, I had fun and I assume you enjoyed reading the reviews. I also didn’t get any complaints about there being too many reviews coming too often. I’m sure I’ll try it again, maybe with more reviews in a week maybe less, I’m not sure yet.

This is what one might call a power packed update day.

See I was thinking originally of doing two or three posts today on the blog so I could get all the news, updates, and general site news to you, the blog reader. The problem is I’m a little lazy today so I thought instead I’d try and link them all together. Well that didn’t really work, I managed two of them but the third thing (the update) really has nothing to do with the others. So say “Hiya” to the new review today, and check out the video.

After checking the video check out the new category we’ve added, it’s about gummies.

I’d also like to add that this particular video is deeply disturbing to me, I can’t place why but sleeping tonight may require some warm milk and a gun.

Just before dinner treat.

I’m thinking of trying to start a mission, and it’s a simple one. Enjoy a treat before dinner. There you are in your kitchen opening a can of soup when you look over your shoulder at a beautiful box of chocolates imported from Belgium. You say to yourself, I’d love to have a chocolate but it’ll spoil dinner and I wouldn’t want to do that. I say why not! In fact I say you wouldn’t want to spoil your awesome chocolate treat with a cruddy can of soup. If you happen to be looking for something to enjoy before that can of chicken noodle I recommend the current review.

I just ate some cereal.

Hmmmmm, cereal and candy, although sometimes cereal is candy (but still part of a balanced breakfast). This mornings review is tasty and a rare treat for candy aficionados in North America at least. I’d really like to write more now but it’s kind of cold and I’m wondering if I should take a shower or not… “sniff”… yup.

Man it’s another update and it’s also a reminder that about 30 minutes ago it was Bitter Sweet Chocolate and Almond Day.

I guess the title really said everything. The new updated is far from “bitter sweet” and it contains no almonds, so I guess when it comes to celebrating this event I really suck.

Tonight we dance.

With another review on the books I can go to sleep. I’ve done the math and it would appear that I’m a little behind in the review department. That is if I want to get 10 out by the end of the week. That’s ok though, you know I’ll do it no matter what it takes… No matter what!

This update thing is wearing on me already.

So it came to the other night after starting this “updated bonanza”, I have to do some updates first thing in the morning. I’m not really liking it that much, but as you can see I’ve done it and I’ll do more, so don’t worry I’m not going to give up. This mornings review is a treat I picked up in a tourist shop while on the east coast.

Two things…

First of all I’m going to add to our crazy fun amazing update week with a classic, well sort of classic. What I can say will be a classic in the near future, Pocky. Strawberry Pocky to be exact, it’s one of their least strange and older variations.

It’s a special update time in history.

For this week we present the very first "Rot my teeth out, review every day week". Basically throughout the week rather than one review we’ll go through ten reviews. Why are we doing this? Well we’re really not sure but I’m sure it’ll be more exciting than not doing 10 reviews. Our first review is of a treat that had all the makings of greatness and you’ll have to read the review to find out how flat it fell.

Click here to read the review

Also as note to all our members, you can preview all the reviews for this week in the member’s section of the Candy of the Month Club. For those that aren’t members, well you’ll have to join and check out our next instalment.

Good and Plenty

It’s kind of neat when I get to combine both my interests, candy and cartoons. I’m also glad that I have no interest in white vans because that would just be creepy.

Dental day, the last chapter this year.

T’was the day after Halloween and to my fright,
I had a fairly, fairly dull night.
The day to follow would be very relentless,
For after Halloween I had a date with my dentist.
For all the treats I ate she would surely know,
She might even tell me my teeth have to go.
But by the end I let out a cheer,For it was the last appointment this year.

Here’s a Photoshoped look at what my face felt like after visiting the dentist. I had to call Allison and she only understood about half of what I had to say.

While I rested at home I came across this article from the sneeze with an interesting article about two subjects on my mind right now, candy and pain killers.
