Candy in the Media - A Funny Commercial is Good

The folks at Eater have pointed out (check it out here) how nice it is to see that new advertising might not just focus on how we're all miserable.

A Sour Review That's A Little More Mango... Kind Of - Hi Sour "Super Sour Mango"

I don't think I understand sour candies. That's not to say that I don't like sour candies. In fact, sour is probably one of my favourite extreme candy flavours out there. I'd rather have a super sour candy than a spicy candy any day of  the week. I just don't understand why I, or anyone else, likes them. The thing is, we do, and that's just the way it is. Sour candies have been a staple of my candy eating life ever since I was a kid. I've had some very intense sour experiences, and I've had a few failures too. The thing is, if you offer me a super sour candy, I'm going to take it.

Click here to find out how the Hi Sour "Super Sour Mango" held up.

You can also follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter because we post more than just one review a week, and we post about them there.

Candy In The Media - A Unique Way To Microwave Chocolate

I know this is a video demonstrating what would happen if you took the door off your microwave, but I appreciate that they use chocolate to test their theory.

Today's New Candy Review Makes Me Think About What's On A Package - Snap and Crackle

Whenever I review a candy, I try my hardest not to be influenced by the package. The thing is, the more I think about it, the more I realize that the package of a candy treat is really a big part of any candy experience. It's the first thing you see when you're at a candy store, and it often gives you some insight into what you should be expecting. Sometimes that expectation is only hinted at, and sometimes it's laid out in full words (I'd say full English, but I've had several candies that have zero English on them at all). This candy on the other hand has what it's "supposed" to be written in plain English, yet it doesn't actually have any of what it's describing. Strangely, this actually disappointed me.

Click here to find out why this taffy candy disappointed me.

Candy In The Media - Be A Chocolate History Expert In 15 Minutes

This is one of the best videos I've ever seen on the history of chocolate. It's very accurate and is the perfect lesson for anyone who wants to learn about the history of chocolate.

I'm Feeling Cake Like Today - Twiggies "Cream Dream Vanilla"

I realized something while writing this review of an obvious Twinkies rip off, I've never actually reviewed regular Twinkies. It seems like an obvious treat that someone like me should be reviewing, but here we are many years into this project and I still don't have a Twinkies review. I'm not sure when I'll have a review either, mostly because right now I'm not living in North America, and believe it or not, Twinkies are pretty hard to find in most parts of the world. Just remember that when you're making an obscure Twinkies reference on the Internet, there's a huge number of people who have no idea what you're talking about.

Click here to read the rip off review.

Make sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram as I'm sure I'll post the minute I finally review the real Twinkies.

It's The Start Of A Candy Bar Review-A-Thon!

Sometimes I'm very specific with the review-a-thons on Candy Critic. It could be that I focus on a particular brand, or it could be that I even look at a particular treat. Other times I'm much looser, this is one of those times. I also think that when I do these very loose review-a-thons, I tend to repeat myself. I'm pretty sure I've done a candy bar review-a-thon in the past. The thing is, there are always going to be candy bars to review.

Also be sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter to keep up with the review-a-thon going on all week.

You can also follow us on Patreon if you want a bunch of extra stuff too.
