Allison and I stopped at a fruit stand to pick up some fruity snacks on our trip and we came across this little ugly friend. It’s called a hedge ball and it’s supposed to keep fruit flies off your fruit. It’s also supposed to induce vomiting if you eat it so I’m thinking a sample isn’t a good idea. Fruit is most certainly my favourite food (other than candy) and fruit flies sure know how to ruin my fruit so I’m giving this guy a try.CC

What is the name of this fruit? I picked one at Nimes, France.
It's official name is Maclura Pomifera, but it also goes by many other names. The one thing I was told about them is "don't eat it". You can learn a little more here:
