When you move to a new place you have to except that the culture is going to be a little different than it is at home. The language is different, what people do for fun is different, but sometimes there's a difference that you just can't except and you fight it. Living here in Greece (so far for almost two months) I've come to except many of the changes, however one difference worries me just a little. Here in Greece, there is no Halloween. The shelves are not full of candy treats, kids aren't planning on any costumes, all of my Halloween joy is coming from friends, family, and the internet.
The thing is I don't want to miss out on some Halloween joy. I need your help. What do you think I can do here in Greece to celebrate Halloween? Are there any cooks out there that can suggest a good candy treat to make (keep in mind I'm fairly incompetent). How about some Halloween games with a Greek twist? Any ideas or help at all will make my Halloween dreams come true this year.

My best advise would be to wait 4 months and then you can have your Halloween party 3 times in the span of a month....
Now if you don't want to miss Halloween then search the hotel events for that period as they may offer a Halloween party for guests or the american community might have arranged something. You may even throw a party yourself for a few new friends... Greeks never pass the oppurtunity you know...
Also visit a toy store called Imaginarium this year has brough some pretty cool Halloween stuff (Try Golden Hall) Starbucks have their annual Halloween bears dressed as wolves while if you visit the Golden Hall you might find something Halloweenish at Ben&Jerry's
As for candy... well you wont find any sweet corn but go to a super market (try the Carrefour in Avenue Mall near the Golden Hall) it has everything and there is a different aisle for chocolates, cookies, caramels and even for baking products...
PS FOR CARAMEL APPLES try carrefour's black chocolate cover caramels (gold paper), Melt them in the micro and enjoy...
Brilliant Tips! Although I don't get that whole wait 4 months thing. Is there another holiday I should know about?
