Changi Airport Singapore

After exploring Changi airport, I've made a sad discovery. Airport treats are going down hill.  More importantly the selection of treats is really sad.  Singapore is an Asian country known for a great diversity of foods, yet this airport is full of European and North American candy and very few Asian treats.  While there still are a few airports around the world that carry local treats, more and more are just carrying Toblerone bars, M&M's, and Belgian chocolates.  While I love these treats, it's sad that local treats are disappearing from airports.  And it makes it really hard to buy last minute gifts for friends.

Dear CandyCritic

I am an avid follower of your blog, and run the Oxford Chocolate Enthusiasts'.

I also happen to be Singaporean, and I cannot agree with this post more.

All we have at these shops are the "Merlion" chocolates which are absolutely horrible.

Then again, one benefit of Singapore's import market is that we get pretty much every chocolate in the Western world, unlike in Europe where American Candy is priced at a premium, and, conversely, in America with European Candy.

Ah well.

When I travel I always want only local candy, yet when I'm at home I always want more variety of candy. I guess I'm a bit of a hypocrite that way.
