My Candy/Junk Food Chrsitmas Wishlist - Swiss Chalet Dipping Sauce

I'm not going to be home (Canada) for the holidays this year, and while having family and friends around for the season would be nice, it would also be impractical.  Having some Swiss Chalet dipping sauce on the other hand is heart warming, nostalgic, and far less expensive than having my family fly over.  I also think it would taste really great on a turkey.

A Sentiment Candy Jewelry Thing

All this month we're featuring some of the cool jewelry from our friends at KanDi Jewelry.  Any of these would make the perfect Christmas gift for any candy lover in your family! I like this bracelet because not only does it have a gummy bear on it, but it tells people how I feel about it.

Check out their whole store right here!

Classic/Creative Candy Advertising

It seems like I'm just repeating last week's themes.  Last week on "A Cool Candy Thing" I posted about a Star Wars silicon mold, this week on "A Cool Candy Thing" I posted about another Star Wars silicon mold.  Last week I posted a really strange Spangles advertisement, this week I'm posting another really strange Spangles advertisement.  I guess the difference about this week's advertisement is that it's Christmas themed, and now that the holidays are coming, I'm pretty sure all of the Classic/Creative Candy Advertising I'm going to post is going to be Christmas themed.

I found this ad here.

Review - Christmas 2011

I'm looking forward to snow... I'm not too sure I'm going to see any this year, particularly on Christmas, but I'm looking forward to the possibility.  I'm looking forward to this possibility with the caveat that I don't have to shovel any of it.  I'm not sure why Christmas makes me think about snow, is it the song "White Christmas"?  What if instead of a "white Christmas" the song was about a chocolate filled Christmas, would we expect chocolate every Christmas?  I'm thinking that would have been a better situation, after all you can't make snow, but you can always find chocolate.

Review - Have Some Cake

As always, the holiday season has just kind of appeared on my doorstep without any warning whatsoever.  I seem to remember only yesterday setting up my Halloween reviews, quickly followed by my fun Finnish review-a-thon.  Next thing I know Christmas is quickly approaching.  It's going to get a jump start on me this year too, because I'm not planning to celebrate at home this year.  The goal is to take a wonderful trip to the Christmas capital of Europe, and maybe the whole world.  Vienna is really the place to go during the holiday season, so it sounds like something I shouldn't miss.

Santa's List

See that pink slip of paper in Santa's good and naughty list.  I'm sure that's a special note next to my name making sure that he knows that not only have I been good, but that I also love candy.  I bet it is.

History Of the Advent Calendar

Mental Floss has an interesting look at the history of the advent calendar.  Sadly this year seems like the first in a while that I will not be getting an advent calendar for myself.  It appears that in Greece they don't really use them at all.  It's a little sad, but next year I think I might have to head out of the country (maybe Germany) and stock up for a few years.

Chocolate Lessons

In the back of my head I always think about learning how to make candy. I think it would be such a benefit to this site and my knowledge of food writing if I could actually make the stuff myself. Then I remember a few Christmas' ago when Allison decided to show me how to make chocolates and it was pretty much a hellish experience. So then I remember how much I just like eating treats.

I almost forgot.

One of the holiday traditions in the Candy Critic household every year is the advent calendar. What could be better than celebrating the holidays 25 days before the holidays with a chocolate every day? This year was made even more awesome because our advent calendar was provided to us from the lovely people at Madelain Chocolates.
These little doors not only have chocolate in them but the chocolate is wrapped up like a cute little gift. Also, I’m sure to please Allison more than me, each little door has a cute little Christmas poem written on it as well.
