Santa Losing Weight

I don't really understand the logic of this commercial. It appears that Santa just spent Christmas Eve delivering presents but also eating too much food. He complains about eating too much, but then goes on to eat a candy bar. He also seems a little foul mouthed, but maybe that's just a misinterpretation.

The Christmas Extravaganza Continues With Santa

Here's a completely random thing that happens to me often because of this site. I often find that I have to misspell certain words. In the most recent case it has to do with this new Christmas chocolate review. The chocolates are in the form of Santa Clause. So in this bag there are several Santas, which all my spell checks consistently remind me is not a word. It makes sense that a pluralized version of a proper name cannot be a word, but when you're such a famous person and your image might be on many different things then that changes. I know that my spelling is not the best, but I try, the fact that the word Santas keeps coming up wrong for me on my spellcheck is driving me nuts.

Click here to read about the holiday treat that caused a great deal of red marks on my spell checking apps.

I'm posting many bonus reviews in December for Christmas, so be sure to follow me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to keep up with them all.

Tom's Look At The Visual Side Of Christmas Snacks And Candy - Christmas Haul Part 3

Here is an interesting variation on Kit Kat using a “traditional” old-school depiction of Santa Claus with some modern touches. At first glance, Santa appears to be the jolly old elf as depicted in, perhaps the classic “Night Before Christmas” tale. On closer inspection, the middle Santa wears googles and has a funkily-decorated snowboard under one arm. Beside that Santa is another Santa wearing headphones with the cord disappearing into his red outfit. One assumes he’s streaming some music that is suitably hip and now. Maybe it’s a tastefully selected playlist of festive tunes? Or a podcast? Whatever is playing through the headphones, Santa has eyes closed in blissful rapture.
The third Santa has me baffled. There appears to be a small, dark object near his waist. I don’t know what it is. Anyone else have that sorted out?

Finally, I noticed that Santa’s outfit is different from typical depictions. It looks like a robe with a hood. The garment has festive motifs at the cuffs and surrounding his face. Maybe this suggests how Santa looks in his leisure time before heading out on his Christmas Eve travels?
The second sighting is a delight since I’ve seen very few uses of the Yeti in a holiday treat context. As a kid, an advent calendar was a staple at the holidays in my family. Each day, it was exciting to open each numbered cardboard door to see what would be there! Indeed, it was a major effort of restraint to keep from opening the whole thing up on day one.

I might have to buy this advent calendar to see if each treat has a Yeti shape. I was ‘addicted’ to Cookies’N’Creme bars for a brief time back in my college days. The bar seems to have staying power and it’s good to see an entire advent calendar devoted to it. It may prove to be too much of a good thing but that’s a slim possibility.
By the way, Hershey’s lets potential buyers know up front that the final door has an entire chocolate bar behind it. Not sure what I think about this spoiler versus marketing conundrum. The final door was always a special reward after 23 days of anticipation. A small quibble in an otherwise fun product to be sure!

Candy In The Media - Christmas Edition

I hate it when commercials use Santa as a way to promote healthier eating. I also don't like it when candy companies try to sell themselves as a healthy choice. I like candy and I like Santa, but I know that neither one of them is healthy by any standards.

A Cool Candy Thing

Nothing can help you cap off your holiday cheer like the heads of your favorite holiday characters mounted on sticks... Oh wait a minute, these are just Pez dispensers, my bad.  I guess this would be a fine thing to get for the holidays, as long as you ignore my earlier comment about them looking like the dismembered heads of famous holiday characters.  I've never really thought about Pez dispensers as dismembered heads before, and now that I do, I'll never be able to look at them the same again.  Maybe they should create a line of famous people who've faced the guillotine.  Maybe a series of Pez dispensers based on some of the characters from the Tudors television series.

Classic/Creative Candy Advertising - Leaping Santa Claus

When I was a kid, I was always a little nervous about the idea of a large man landing a sled on my roof and breaking into my house.  The cool gifts were the only reason I would tolerate this kind of violation.  If I had seen this advertisement when I was young, I may have drawn the line.

I found this ad on Vintage Ad Browser.

Santa's List

See that pink slip of paper in Santa's good and naughty list.  I'm sure that's a special note next to my name making sure that he knows that not only have I been good, but that I also love candy.  I bet it is.

Bonus on This Weeks Review

After writing this weeks review I was munching on a few of the extras and I noticed something kind of disturbing about these marshmallow Mr. Clause's.  First of all the only colour one finds on these treats is pink and white, thus implying that Santa might be naked.  This fact is only made more true when you look at his middle region.  It's kind of disturbing.

Chocolate Santa?

I'm not really sure where the chocolate Santa came from.  Is it a tradition from another country?  Maybe it's a rip off from Easter's chocolate bunny?  It's not that I dislike eating a chocolate Santa, I just don't understand them.

As always this ad was found on Vintage Ad Browser.

When Santa Shaves I Eat

Sometimes I just don’t understand candy ideas. Sometimes it boggles my mind what people think is a cute and fun thing to eat. This very treat is exactly that.
It’s called ‘Santa’s Cotton Candy’ but it’s not really that simple at all. First of all I didn’t think anywhere in Christmas folklore did Santa have a particular yen for cotton candy.
Secondly in this particular case Santa’s cotton candy is in fact Santa’s beard. Yup that’s what you get with this bag of fun, it’s a bag of jolly fat man facial hair.
I guess it’s ok because apparently Santa is cherry flavoured. The one thing is I want to know how many kids get a bag of this stuff and then go sit on Santa’s knee and take a bite out of his beard.
