Still Creepiest

Every year I post this commercial around Halloween, and I'll continue to do so until someone makes a commercial that's even creepier.

Creepy... Maybe Not Scary

Snickers is great at making scary Halloween commercials, this ones fun, but I think it's more creepy than scary.

The Violence Of Popcorn

I’ve just been doing a doodle to celebrate National popcorn day (see above) and while doing a little research I made a horrifying discovery. Popcorn might be the most violent and disturbing snack in the world. While it’s very tasty, and one of the most versatile sacks out there, it has a very violent birth and destruction. It even looks like it’s in totally agony when it’s sitting in a bowl. After looking at close up pictures of popcorn, and then drawing my doodle, I was a little horrified.

I guess while it’s corn it’s not that violent a life, although I know almost nothing about the harvest and production of popcorn. Come to think of it, a tour of a popcorn farm and factory might be fun. I’ll be sure to put that on my list of future adventures. The thing about popcorn is the first thing people do to it is put it in a really hot environment until it explodes. However popcorn is designed not to explode all the way.

Instead, popcorn is designed to almost pause in time, at that moment after exploding, but before it splits apart into millions of pieces. This is likely why I feel like popcorn looks like it’s in agony. It looks like the slow motion close up on a villains face during the climax of an action movie. Twisted in a way that looks impossible. Then, after you’ve frozen your popcorn in the middle of a large explosion, you often pour hot oil (or sometimes molten sugar) on it. It’s final demise is when it’ finally crushed in your mouth.

If I was to ever write a movie about the life of a kernel of popcorn, people would find it super disturbing. It would be interesting to make that movie as the people likely to be watching it would actually be eating popcorn at the time.

Halloween Candy In The Media - M&Ms Used To Have Glowing Bags?!!

I like the idea of having glow in the dark bags of candy for Halloween, but I'll give huge props to any candy company that can produce glow in the dark candy for Halloween.

Candy In The Media - Trolli Is Creeping Me Out

Tom pointed out this amazing series of commercials for Trolli gummies and I totally love them. I'm just hoping that they didn't put them out for Halloween. I think it would be great if they just went for creepy for creepy sake instead.

This Might Be The Most Disturbing Ice Cream Treat Review We've Ever Posted - Lgantu

When I first bought this ice cream treat I didn't think much of it.  I thought it was a simple little butterfly shaped ice cream treat, and nothing more.  After inspecting the package a little  closer I found some pretty strange and dark details. It went from being a fairly harmless ice cream treat to being something so strange and weird that it kind of creeped me out.

Click here to find out why this ice cream is so creepy.

A Scary Skull Candy Thing

The great thing about silicon molds is the amazing diversity of things you can make with them.  These skull shaped ice molds will make your next drink party pretty awesome, but they'll also make your next batch of cake pops fantastic, and if you're into making your own chocolates you'll have some awesome results.  I think the idea of making a cake pop that's filled with a blood read cherry cream or syrup would be the perfect addition to any macabre party.

Candy In the Media

The other day my friend Brent reminded me of the awesome campaign that Mr Big came up with in the 80s.  I remember as a kid thinking that this was a perfectly fine campaign and that there was nothing creepy about it at all.  However, after watching this commercial, there's just something not right at all.  There's something about the lady in this commercial that makes me feel very uncomfortable with the situation happening.

A Sucker of a Candy Thing

It pains me to say this, but I've always found the "Lollipop Guild" to be the creepiest of all of the characters in the Wizard of Oz.  I can't really give you one solid reason why they creep me out, it's really the whole package.  While it's really nice that these fine three fellows wanted to send Dorothy off with a sweet treat, I just think that three grown men giving a girl candy is a little creepy.  Having said that, I regularly give out candy to everybody around me.  So does this mean that I'm creepy?

A Cool Candy Thing - Halloween Costume Eddition

There's something rather evil looking about this costume.  If I remember correctly, Willy Wonka wasn't really very nice to children, at the end of the story he even yelled at Charlie, who was nothing but the nicest boy in the world.  So the idea of a child wanting to emulate a character that's mean to children seems a little strange.  Maybe this could inspire a new book, maybe we could learn about Willy Wonka as a child, and find out why a man who really doesn't like children would get into the candy industry.  If you made a movie about it you wouldn't have to worry about hiring a designer to design his wardrobe, it's right here.

A Cool Candy Thing - Halloween Costume Eddition

I generally dislike the idea of dressing a baby up for Halloween.  It probably stems from the fact that I don't really like dressing up for Halloween, and I believe that stems from bad childhood memories.  I'm not really sure the specifics for my dislike of dressing up for Halloween, but it leads me to find most babies costumes to be kind of creepy.  The saving grace of this costume is the double meaning, Sugar Babies being a real candy (for those outside of the US).  While I don't have any children, and if I did I wouldn't dress them up for Halloween until they were old enough to eat the candy themselves, I do appreciate the humor in this costume. So if you really feel the need to dress up your baby this Halloween, I think ironic candy costumes are the new thing, or at least they should be.
