Candy In the Media
at
9:00 AM
Jeff and Matt have a really cool idea for a film all about candy. I love indy films, and I love candy, so this might be the perfect movie for me. They're working on a Kick Starter to get their film made, so if you think the world needs more candy movie magic, support them and get this film off the ground.
You can click here for more info about their project and to contribute.

Candy In The Media

This really makes me wish I could see things in slow motion without a camera. Nothing is more trippy than watching food dance around on a sub-woofer. It not only entertains the mind, but after you're done it'll entertain the taste buds.

Great Looking Candy Documentary Called "Shelf Life"
at
9:13 AM
I just checked out this great trailer for a documentary about candy, and I thought I'd pass it along. Here's a bio from the filmmakers:
"For 60 years, Lanzi Candy Company was one of dozens of family-run confectionaries that, along with candy giants Brach's, Mars and Fannie May, gave Chicago the title Candy Capital of the World.
Now, 25 years after Lanzi's candy was last produced in Chicago, entrepreneur Jerry Ostermann has set out to bring Lanzi's Cashew Nut Crunch back to the city. One problem: he has neither the recipe nor the machinery to make it.
Filmmaker Michael Lahey, whose grandfather Elmo founded Lanzi's in 1920, follows Jerry's quest to get Lanzi's back onto shelves and into the mouths of Chicago’s candy connoisseurs. At the same time, Lahey rediscovers his immigrant family’s remarkable history, and unwraps his city’s sugar-coated past. Shelf Life reveals what it takes to satisfy a city's sweet tooth in a story both personal and universal–– a story of love, greed and confectionary secrets."
Can't wait to see the whole film.

Lots Of Candy Films
at

And I’m talking about fine films too. I’ve seen, a huge amount of interest in the documentary arena about the topic of candy and… well my phone has not rung once. Sure I’m a little sad but that’s Hollywood for you.

The only thing more entertaining than watching a movie while munching on some snacks is when the movie is about the snacks that you’re munching on.Click here to read more.

What kind of candy should I eat when I go to this movie?
at
12:38 PM
I just got an e-mail about a film in the works about the candy industry called Shelf Life by Michael Layhey. I don’t want to give away anything about the movie but I can assure you from what they sent me I’ll be keeping up with their progress. I’ll post anything I get about it on the blog and if I get a chance I’ll do my first movie review about it when it comes out. I just wonder how it will score on Taste, Texture, and Novelty.Click here to sign up for more information about this film.
