A New Episode of Junk Fud And You Is Online

On this special episode of Junk Fud, I had the honor of chatting with Ming Chen, star of AMC's Comic Book Men.  Ming is not only a comic book fanatic, but he loves to eat.  He travels around the US seeking out restaurants and local "holes in the wall" to experience all the flavours he can.  In this episode Ming talks about how comics and candy are linked together, and how to find a great local eatery.

Interview With The Creator Of Jelly Bellies

Easily one of the most influential candies of modern times it's inspired writers (J.K. Rowling) and modern media all over the world.  It's tickled taste buds, and changed the way people look at flavours in candy.  The Jelly Belly is truly a tour de force in the candy and media world.  It's creator took a really simple idea, improving the Jelly Bean, and turned it into something no one could have imagined.

Dove Parties Are Like Tupperware Parties Only Better

I just finished reading an interesting article about a woman who helps people love chocolate.  Sure she also helps people sell chocolate too, but frankly I have no problem with chocolate sales people.  It's really interesting to see how people fall into the world of chocolate, and this woman has a story to tell.

Chicago's Candy Past

The AV Club in Chicago has a great interview with a historian that has a sweet tooth for Chicago.  Few people, with the exception of Leslie Goddard the historian, know how important Chicago was and still is in the candy business.

The "Hoff" Likes Chocolate

David Hasselhoff visits the chocolate museum in Munich and it's big news.  The interview from the link below is a little strange, but the chocolate factory (in particular the crazy gadgets going behind Mr Hasselhoff) look spectacular.  I should also mention that Mr Hasselhoff mentions that this museum is the "only chocolate museum in the world" and I would just like to correct him.  There are in fact many chocolate museums of different sizes and contents scattered all over the world and all of them are well worth checking out.

The Daily Life Of a Candy Maker

I came across this article in the Courier-Journal that simply asks the owner of Schimpff's Confectionery in Jeffersonville, Indiana all about her daily life in simple short questions and answers. It's very entertaining and many of the answers make me jealous of this candy making lady. In particular "Her favorite thing about owning a candy store: We live upstairs, so at any time, day or night, we can just come on down and have a banana split or whatever it is."

A Great Interview With Dylan of Dylan's Candy Bar

The one thing I love about Dylan's Candy bar is that they're not afraid to mix class with candy. It's not that they only deal with super expensive treats either. They have high end stuff, but they also know that a package of Nerds, or a 25 cent gum ball can be classy as well.
