Temperature Sometimes Matters

One of the key issues I have when one candy replicates another is when there's a temperature difference. I find that some flavours only work well when they're presented at a certain temperature. Cola is a great example of this, as it really only works well when it's cold. Ice cream is also another flavour that works so much better when it's cold. It's not only cold things though, a slice of apple pie should be warm, so it's a little odd when you have an apple pie flavoured treat that's room temperature or even cold. I'm not saying that these are hard and fast rules, you can break them, it's just very challenging to keep the spirit of some flavours when presenting them under different temperatures.

Flavour Combinations We Love To A Fault

I think we have a bias about what flavours work with which candy. While there are certainly some flavour to candy combinations that objectively don't work, there are many candies that for some reason we always expect them to be a certain flavour, even though there's no reason that it has to be that flavour. Take gumnies, for some reason chocolate flavoured gummies are just never a thing, yet there's no reason why it shouldn't work. Chocolate works in just about every single other sweet treat, but it's extremely rare in gummies, why is that? There's nothing about gummies that suggest the texture of fruit, but for some reason most gummies are fruit flavoured.

Check out my latest review to read about another flavour combination that should work.

Most people don't think about what would happen to red licorice in extreme temperatures, well I'm not most people.

That Candy Is Twisted... On Purpose

I've never really looked into the history of Twizzlers, but I have a lot of questions about the shape. Was Twizzlers the first candy to be this shape? What does a floppy, twisted candy have to do with licorice? While we're on the subject, what's the deal with red licorice, it's not really licorice, but it kind of is now. There are a lot of questions that I feel like someone at Twizzlers could answer, but I'm kind of convinced they never will.

Find out what I thought about this twisted treat.

Also make sure to check out Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to see any of my twisted posts.

You can also pick up my book that isn't that twisted, but it's a little weird.
