Good Chocolate, Fun Ingredients

Most people seem to assume that good chocolate is something that should be reserved for serious fillings and flavour combinations. I argue that more candy companies that use high quality chocolate should consider using more fun ingredients. I feel like there's a divide, and that I'll never see a Cote D'Or chocolate bar with gummy bears in it. I feel like there's some kind of mental barrier that stops fine chocolate shops from adding fun ingredients, like grown ups are the only ones to eat fine chocolate, and they don't like anything fun in their chocolates. I feel like Cadbury is doing it right, good quality chocolate with fun things inside it. I just wish more candy makers would do the same.

Are Angry Birds Still A Thing?

I don't think I've played Angry Birds in years, yet apparently you can still buy candy themed to this fun game.

Time To Chew My Review

There's a lot of science that goes into making candy. It's not just the chemistry that actually goes into it either. Psychology is also a really important part of the candy making game. This gum reminded me of that. I'm not sure if the people who invented Big League Chew actually thought about these effects, but this candy hit my memory bank hard.

Click here to find out why this gum triggered some amazing memories.

Have You Ever Eaten a Summit Bar?

At first I didn't want to like this bar, then I saw the peanuts on top of a wafer idea and now I want to try it really bad.

It's Time To Look Back At The Kraft Caramel

In this new episode of In Hindsight I look back at the simple yet classic Kraft Caramel. This is a candy that's been around as long as I can remember. It's nothing special, but it's also very special all at the same time.

Click here to read the review I wrote about it before.

If you have a classic treat that you think I should look at again, let me know on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

I Love These

I've always loved Cool Ranch Doritos, and as far as I can imagine Frito-Lay could never improve on this. The thing that blows my mind is that I haven't written a review for these before. I've been writing about candy for more than 15 years, so I'm pretty sure that I've eaten a few bags of Doritos Cool Ranch since starting this site. I've just never thought about reviewing them. I'm kind of glad that I did, because as you'll read in the review, there's actually something fundamentally wrong with them. Having said that I will eat these again, even if I die tomorrow because chances are that on my death bed this will be something I request.

Chocolate And Peanut Butter

I really miss the old Reese's Peanut Butter Cup commercials that always involved some person accidentally sticking a bar of chocolate into someone else's peanut butter.

Yogurt or Not

I'm always a little surprised that more candy companies in Europe and North America don't use yogurt as a candy flavour. I think the only exception are yogurt covered raisins and occasionally peanuts. The thing about a yogurt flavour is the flexibility to work with other flavours, in particular fruity flavours. Adding this slightly tart flavour gives what could be an overly sweet flavour a wider audience.

Click here to find out if this fun yogurt candy worked or not.

Does This Work?

I've always been skeptical about this trick and I don't think I'll ever try it. My problem is that I can't see myself wasting a bunch of M&Ms.
