It's A Soft, Pillow Like Review - Party Time Strawberry Flavour Marshmallows

I think this candy has a bit of an ego when it comes to its name. While I have some fond memories of roasting marshmallows on an open fire, I don't think I ever associate any marshmallows with a party. If I was attending a party and there were marshmallows being served, I'd likely find that a little odd.

It's Another Episode of us Unwrapping Random Candy, This Time We Unwrapped An Oh Henry Bar!

Of all of the candies we've posted so far, and all of the candies we plan to post in the near future being unwrapped, this is probably the most unique. It's not unique because of the candy we chose, it's unique because of the way I like to eat Oh Henry bars. I know I'm not the only person that peels their Oh Henry bar, but there aren't enough videos on YouTube celebrating this method.

Make sure to follow us on YouTube to keep up with all of our vlogs, podcasts, and random unwrapping videos.

This New Candy Review Is A Little Fishy - Taiyaki Ice

I have to admit, today's new candy review is a little sel... fish. The reason I wanted to review an ice cream treat is because I'm in a place that's very hot, and I need to cool down. I know that many of you reading this are in the throws of a cold winter, and I feel for you, but sometimes you just have to do something for yourself.

Click here to read about this cool, fishy ice cream treat.

It's Time For A New Episode Of Chris, Why Would You Eat That?!! featuring Merinda Green Creme Flavour.

This episode of Chris, Why Would You Eat That?!! has inspired me to change the way things are done in this web show. The problem I  have is that I can't sample the foods to find out if they're really gross or not. I can't check that it's going to make for good TV. So sometimes it leads to me eating something that tastes kind of meh. It's not surprisingly good, or grotesque. This makes for a slightly dull episode  of Chris, Why Would You Eat That?!! So next month, after the new episode "drops" you'll  have a chance to help me pick what I'm going to try next. I'll offer two or three suggested items, and you can pick. I might take a vote, or just take the first suggestion that comes up.  We'll see how that works out for future episodes.

To find old episode of Chris, Why Would You Eat That?!! where I do eat gross things, click here.

Likely the way I'll have people vote on the next treat will be on Facebook and/or Twitter.

This New Candy Review Might Cure Your Cold, But Does Nothing For Your Tastebuds - Renesse "Red Ginseng Candy"

I think there's a belief that colds are afraid of things that taste bad. It's not always the case, but most of the time any kind of food that notionally makes a cold go away tastes awful. There are a few cold relief treats that I've had that aren't bad, but I don't think there are any that taste good. I don't think  I've ever been walking down the aisle of my local drug store, while feeling completely healthy, and thought about buying a lozenge.

Click here to read about the latest cold relief candy that we sampled.

The Candy Critic Team Canada Shreddies Olympic Challenge.

During the summer games of 2016 I gave myself a fun little challenge. I promised to stuff gummy bears in my mouth and sing the Canadian national anthem, Oh Canada. How many gummy bears you might ask? I stuffed one gummy bear for every bronze medal, two for every silver, and three for every gold medal Canada won during the summer Olympics.  Well I'm at it again. Once again to celebrate the amazing accomplishments of team Canada I will shove food in my mouth and sing the national anthem.

This year I decided that gummy bears is not the best way to represent team Canada. After all gummy bears were invented in Germany, and don't really represent the true north strong and free. So this year I'm shoving Shreddies cereal in my mouth. Shreddies is a staple cereal in any Canadian household. They're also very dry and full of many sharp corners. I also think that Shreddies will be far more hilarious to watch me shove in my mouth and sing.  So every day I'll be adding to the bowl of Shreddies, and with each medal won the sharp cornered cereal numbers will climb, and my mouth will get dryer and dryer just looking at it.

It's Time To Spread The Love With Today's New Candy Review - Pocky "Strawberry" (with new cookie sticks)

The thing I love most about Valentine's Day is the quality of sweet treats that are exchanged. For the most part you don't have to worry about getting sweet treats that you don't like. This happens for two reasons really. The first is the fact that the person giving you a Valentine's Day treat is likely someone who knows you, and should know what you like. Secondly, most of the traditional Valentine's Day treats are pretty awesome, particularly boxes of chocolates. Unlike Halloween where you really don't know what you're going to get, and Christmas where the selection is never so refined. I think Valentine's Day is the best candy day, particularly for candy snobs like me.

Last Minute Ideas If You Wanted To Be My Valentine - Heart Shapped Box Of Chocolates

Who doesn't like a classic? I love the idea of getting a box of chocolates for Valentines Day, sure it takes a little away from the tradition, since I would be a guy receiving the box of chocolates. But we live in the future, and I'm happy to accept a gift of this caliber from any lovely suitor.

Candy In The Media - Our Favorite Super Bowl Commercials

I would say that this years super bowl commercials were either a big hit or a big miss. In general I enjoyed all of the snack themed commercials, although there didn't seem to be as many as usual. This is a little odd considering how many people worry about their snacking game before the game.

Here are all of the snacking  commercials we thought were worth watching this year:

Doritos/Mountain Dew

This commercial is a great example of getting popular actors to do things that they wouldn't normally do (or Dew, if you want to be punny). It's obviously a very expensive commercial and I think it works for the football demographic.

M&Ms

I don't think I could think of a better person than Danny Devito to cast as Red (M&M). While I'm not a big fan of Super Bowl commercial sequels, I would be really interested in who they might cast for some of the other M&Ms.

Pepsi

I like how this commercial looks at the history of Pepsi marketing. It's a clever way to look back at how Pepsi has branded itself throughout the years. I particularly like the Back To The Future reference.

Pringles

This commercial is your standard goofy Super Bowl commercial, with all of the characters yelling  for no particular reason at one point and everything. The thing I loved about this commercial is the potential it creates for mixing and matching Pringles flavours, something I'd never thought of before.

Last Minute Ideas If You Wanted To Be My Valentine - British Chocolate Bars

An assortment of British chocolate bars not only says I care about making your sweet tooth happy, it also says I care about the quality of treats I use to make your sweet tooth happy. While quantity is  important, quality is what truly says "I love you".

It's Time To Review A New Version Of A Classic Snack - Pocky "Almond Taste"

Pocky is one of the most varied snacks in the world. There are hundreds of flavours to choose from, and they're constantly coming up with new ones. Some of the varieties are simple and logical, like this one, and some are crazy and kind of gross. I think huge selection of Pocky comes from the fact that this is a Japanese candy, and Japanese candy makers love to give their candies a new look, almost monthly.

Click here to read about this new variety of Pocky (at least it's new to us).

Last Minute Ideas If You Wanted To Be My Valentine - Jelly Bean Of The Month Club

I mean you could get me a great gift that would put a smile on my face this month, or you could get me a gift that would put a smile on my face every month for the next year. I think the answer if obvious, go for the Jelly Bean of the Month Club.

Today's New Candy Review Brought Up An Interesting Question - Twinkies "Chocolate Cake"

While posting this week's new candy review, a question popped into my head, how do you spell the singular for Twinkies? Do you simply remove the "s", or do you substitute the "ies" with a "y"? The other question is should you  spell Twinkies in the singular in the first place. After all they always come in packages of 2 or more. Maybe this is one of those words that should stay in pluralized form, even if there's only one.

Click here to find out what we thought about these Twinkies, and we promise not to bring up this stupid question ever again.

Candy In The Media - Looking Back at 7-11

When I was a kid 7-11 was the end and a be all of stores. A trip to 7-11 meant you were in for some serious sugar and snack fun times.  I'm not sure if the quality of these stores has gone down hill, or if my expectations have gone up. They're just not what they used to be in my eyes, and that's a little sad.

On Day 4 Of Our African Candy Review-A-Thon, We Have Yet Another Bag Of Chips - Tropical Heat Potato Crisps "Tomato Flavour"

I like these chips (spoilers). The name was a little misleading, but I like the name. It sounds like a bad movie from the 1980's. Likely one of those movies that would play really late at night on a cable channel, and would contain some nudity. Nothing too offensive, but enough to keep you interested.  The chips themselves aren't that interesting, but they're good enough that I wish I had more.

Click here to read about these "saucy" sounding potato chips.
