New Candy Factory In Calgary

Bernard Callebaut has just decided to open a chocolate factory in Calgary.  That's good news on so many fronts.  Sure it's great that people will get work, and that Canada is contributing to the candy world.  But the best news of all is the fact that Calgary is now going to stink of chocolate.

Barry Callebaut Isn't Getting Chocolate From The Ivory Coast

This is really big news since Barry Callebaut is the largest distributor of chocolate in the world.  It appears that the political upheaval in this part of the world is getting to be too much.  I've been keeping track of this story and so far prices haven't skyrocketed yet, but there are many people that believe that chocolate prices for Easter will be very high.  Others are saying that alternative sources of chocolate are coming up and may be able to sustain the demand.  We shall soon see.  For me, I figure I'll enjoy the chocolate while it's resonable, and if prices shoot up, I'll just have to move to gummies and other sweet treats.

Barry Callebaut Is Improving Chocolate

According to the article bellow, Barry Callebaut has come up with a way of making chocolate even better through a fermentation process.  I don't really care that much about the details, but the end result sounds fantastic.

Barry Callebaut Isn't Worried

One of the biggest chocolate distributors in the world isn't worried about the cocoa problems brewing in Africa right now.  They figure they have enough cocoa in reserve to make it through the drought.  They're not the only ones claiming this either.  Some say that although cocoa prices have gone up recently, the rise has hit it's peak.  That means that chances are you're not going to see a significant increase in the price of chocolate treats.  Here's hoping.
