Candy News - A big candy show is wrapping up right now, that means that we might see a few new treats heading down the pipeline. We also might get an idea of what the next "trends" in the candy world are going to be. I've mentioned this before, but I personally hate the idea of food trends, however I realize that they exist. At certain times, people seem to crave more of a particular flavour, or type of food, than at other times. I don't like to follow trends, but only because I don't like to limit my eating to what other people are enjoying at that very moment.
What's Happening At Candy Critic - Last week we had a bit of a slow week, but this week we're back at full force. I just got back from a very quick trip to Canada, and I have a few adventures to share. So all this week I'll have posts about getting to, staying in, and flying back from Canada. I had as good a time as I could with such a short trip, and I managed to eat a lot of treats that I really missed.
Rant - This rant may seem irrelevant to many of you reading this, but why is it that I can't ship liquids overseas? I can pack them in luggage, but I can't mail them. I say this because every time I move, or visit, somewhere, I often find great new flavours that I want to try again. I have friends willing to ship them to me, but the postage service has a rule about liquids. That means no sauces, no drinks, and no liquid toppings, are coming my way. While there are a bunch of other types of treats available, this does limit me a lot. I'm sure my friends are capable of packaging these things up, and many liquids come in cans and plastic bottles now a days. So what's the problem?

What Going Green Gets You
at
10:48 AM
People often don't look at some of the benefits of going green in the candy industry. In some cases you might gain a customer or two, in all cases you can feel good about yourself (although that's not profitable and let's face it business is business). There is one great thing to being green, that will help promote you for free, that comes in the form of a presidential visit in support of your initiatives. That's what Obama did recently when he paid a visit to the new green Frito-Lay electric fleet. And look, I'm posting about it, and I'm not even American.

So I'm Not The Only Person That Has Problems Shipping Candy
at
1:39 PM
In fact after reading the article below my problems seem pretty tame. The general problem is that shipping candy anywhere outside of the US is a pain in the butt. Now I have my own theories about whom is to blame for these issues, but more often than not it leads to me not getting treats or not being able to send treats to others and that's just sad.
