You know you've made it as a candy company when you have your own hot air balloon. Companies that are just starting off, trying to make ends meet, don't go out and buy hot air balloons. I'm not saying that it's a bad advertising choice, I'm just saying that it takes some capital to get something like this going. I'd also like to add that if the people from Ritter Sport would like to give me a ride in their hot air balloon, I would graciously accept.

Wednesday's Candy Links
at
9:00 AM
What does one do with 40,000 lbs of walnuts, and why would someone risk jail time to get them?
Hershey's is having trouble marketing a chocolate bar that has less chocolate and more air, quelle surprise.

In The Air With a Gummy Bear
at
3:25 PM
While flying to Poland, for the epic start of my cool trip, I saw this airplane loading up with the luckiest passengers ever. I wonder if they got gummy bears as their in flight snack?

Airport Chocolate Shops
at
1:27 PM
The strange thing about traveling is you quickly learn that some of the best looking chocolate shops in the world are located in airports. These stores aren't about the home made stuff, or the down home feel, these stores are all about elegance and opulence. You can tell they're aiming for a particular crowd, just look at the price tags.

Milky Cow
at
2:02 PM
I love this display for Milka Chocolate that I saw in an airport a little while back. For some reason I don't find it at all disgusting to buy my chocolate from inside a cow.
The best part about this display is the head, it's actually fuzzy. So when you pet him you get the feeling that your petting a real purple cow filled with chocolate.

Stephen Colbert Makes Fun Of Air Bars
at
2:36 PM
The idea of injecting air into chocolate bars to make them better seems like a ridiculous idea to me. Sure it helps the chocolate melt a little bit more, but that's because there's less chocolate to melt through. That's like saying your candles would burn faster if there just wasn't so much wax. Apparently even Stephen Colbert agrees with the silliness of this idea and has decided to introduce his own candy bar, containing 100% air.

Gummy Review Week Continues Again Yet Another Day Still
at
10:51 AM
Today's review I got when Allison flew... somewhere, and they gave her a bag of gummies. I think this is a brilliant idea on the part of airlines. I mean, the "bag of peanuts" thing is way too old, it's time we had some variety in our airline snacks. Frankly I would even choose my airline based on the quality or type of snacks offered.

Aerated Chocolate
at
2:14 PM
Hershey has announced the launch of a new line of chocolates that are aerated that according to them improve the mouth melting as well as improve the chocolate eating experience. Now I'm not trying to be overly pessimistic, but don't you find it strange that they release these new treats just as cocoa prices are expected to soar? I'm wondering if aerated chocolate will be cheaper than regular chocolate?
