Jellies From Asia

Whenever I write a new review, probably one of the hardest parts is trying to figure out what category it might fit into. While it's not always hard, in cases like this latest featured review it can be very challenging. I do have a category that's simply called "unique", but I try my hardest not to put any reviews into that category as it seems like a cheat. In the case of these Asian jelly candies, I figured lumping them in with gummies would be okay.

I Sampled A Lot Of Japanese Cookies For This New Video

I'm not sure what inspired me to eat all of these Japanese cookies at once, it just seemed like the best way to try and sort out this bag of random cookies (and some jellies too). You can pretty draw your own conclusion at the end.

It's National Gumdrop Day!!!

What's the difference between a gumdrop, a jelly, and a gummy?  This is a question I get all the time, and I do believe that there's a proper answer.  A gumdrop is often bell shaped, covered in sugar, dense, and kind of sticky.  A jelly can be just about any shape you choose, although I really enjoy the ones shaped like wedges of fruit, it's often covered in sugar as well, but the texture is a lot softer and smoother than that of a gum drop.  A gummy can also come in just about any shape, they don't have to be covered in sugar, and the texture is more rubbery than either the gumdrop or the jelly.  There are a few chewy treats that don't fit perfectly into any one of the these categories, but most do favour one category more than the others.

Spreads - Mint Jelly

I just finished an art piece for bewarethecheese.com's fine art gallery "Senses". For this piece I had to photograph, and eventually eat more than 40 different spreads.  I've decided to post a little something about each spread that I sampled.

When I was a kid, my mom used to give me mint jelly for my lamb.  It was the only way I would eat it, because I hate lamb.  While eating this slice of bread covered in mint jelly I came to a new conclusion.  I don't like mint jelly either, it's probably just better than lamb, but not much.
