Easter Reviews Are Coming In

While writing this review a thought crossed my mind. What's the best holiday for candy? I'm talking about the best quality candies and not the most candies. I would also have to add that the candies have to be unique to that holiday, so that means that a Kit Kat bar cannot count for Halloween. The more I thought about it the more I think I'm leaning towards Easter. While the selection of Easter treats is more limited than many holidays, the fact that high quality chocolate is a big ingredient plays to its favour.

Check out my first of many Easter reviews for this week.

Time For A Loving Review

Every year I go out to the local stores and try and find a candy to review on Valentine's Day, and just about every year I find one. Then I go out and try and think of something to get Allison for Valentine's Day, and it's never in the isle where I find the candy I reviewed. Maybe it's just us, but we never buy "Valentine's" themed things for each other. If we do get something for the other person it tends to be something they really like, not something that's themed towards the holiday. Don't get me wrong, if you like Valentine's Day things then that special someone should get a Valentine's Day treat for you. I just can't imagine that so many people in this world actually like Valentine's Day stuff so much. Having said that, every year stores fill up with the stuff so people must be buying it.

Jelly Beans And Christmas

One thing I love about the candy industry lately is how each and every company is adjusting for each and every holiday. While I don't associate Christmas with jelly beans, Jelly Belly has managed to make the connection. Jelly Belly has the advantage in that they can pretty much make any flavour they like for just about any holiday. I do however have a great deal of fun walking the candy aisles of grocery stories right now looking at how candy companies are trying to blend in with the holidays.

Check out how well Jelly Belly did at blending into the the holiday season.

The Christmas Extravaganza Continues With Santa

Here's a completely random thing that happens to me often because of this site. I often find that I have to misspell certain words. In the most recent case it has to do with this new Christmas chocolate review. The chocolates are in the form of Santa Clause. So in this bag there are several Santas, which all my spell checks consistently remind me is not a word. It makes sense that a pluralized version of a proper name cannot be a word, but when you're such a famous person and your image might be on many different things then that changes. I know that my spelling is not the best, but I try, the fact that the word Santas keeps coming up wrong for me on my spellcheck is driving me nuts.

Click here to read about the holiday treat that caused a great deal of red marks on my spell checking apps.

Starting The Christmas Reviews

Christmas decorations and treats started coming out really early this year. I noticed many Christmas things on store shelves well before Halloween was even over. At first it bugged me, but then I learned that stores had a hard time ordering things this year because of Covid shortages and disruptions. I also changed my tune and remembered last year how great it was when people kept their Christmas decorations up a little longer than usual. I quickly changed from the Christmas Grinch to... well whoever the opposite of the Christmas Grinch might be. So this year I've gone a little nuts with Christmas treats to review, and because of that, I've decided to start posting my reviews now. To start everything off I thought I'd have a review-a-thon featuring one of my favourite Christmas treats, Lindor.

Click here to find out how I felt about the first entry in this review-a-thon.

Make sure to follow me on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook to keep up with the review-a-thon.

It's Pre-Halloween Week!

I love the week before Halloween, almost as much as I love the week after Halloween. I love the week before Halloween because everyone is getting into the spirit of the season, picking out their costumes, and buying all kinds of fund treats to give out to their neighbours. I love the week after Halloween because all of the candy that didn't sell is on sale.

Make sure to follow me on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook because there will be more reviews this week,.

Christmas Candy This Year

It's been a weird year, and a weird holiday season. Some of us are doing okay, other's are not. To all those not doing great right now, I'm here for you, maybe not physically, but I'm here for you. I can't say anything else except it's going to get better. It might not be the same as it was before, but it's going to get better. I'll tell you why I'm so optimistic. Around Halloween I had recently returned home from living in Asia, and even though Covid was still around, I was looking forward to being home and eating some Canadian/North American treats. Then, as more news of Covid hit, I learned that Halloween was going to be canceled, and Halloween treats were going to be reduced or entirely canceled at many stores. I felt like I was coming home to an empty house. I was worried that the world was going to remain empty and maybe never fill up again.

Then Christmas started to peek its way in, and people started to decorate their houses, and best of all for me, stores started to fill up with Christmas cheer. Sure it's not the same as in years past, but it's much better than it was at Halloween. Sure I over indulged this year, but I feel like I needed it a little. So go out and over indulge this holiday season. Maybe it won't be with food, but be extra festive no mater what you celebrate.

Click here to read yet another Christmas review.

Make sure to check out my Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook feeds to find out how I'm indulging a little.

Also be sure to read the latest issue of Snack Facts and learn all about the candy cane.
