Here are a few treats that you can only get in the USA, because some of the ingredients are banned in other places.  But don't worry, chances are you can get Kinder Eggs where you are.

Did you ever imagine that there would be a recipe that would call for a quarter of a cup of Pop Rocks?

The debate continues, is high-fructose corn syrup that much worse for you than regular sugar?

I keep hearing news of chocolate companies developing better non-melting chocolate, do people really want this?  Isn't the fact that chocolate melts one of its benefits?

Are there really people out there that believe that sugar free gum is "good" for you?

See's Candy has recalled it's chocolate covered raisins. Why?  Well they may contain nuts or eggs. So I guess if you're OK eating nuts or eggs you can pretty much ignore this.

Here's a sugar substitute that I can get behind, dried fruit powder.

Mars launches egg-less Snickers bars in India... Wait a minute, Snickers bars have egg in them?

Is "birthday cake" a flavour?  What flavour is it?  I'm thinking vanilla cake with a little extra happiness.

Kraft signed a deal to make some of their treats in an ice cream form, I'm looking forward to the Toblerone ice cream treat.

Consumers Are Confident...

Consumers are confident that the food they buy will not poison them.  In fact, according to this article, consumer are more confident in the safety of their food than they have been in seven years.  This doesn't sound like the set up for a huge disaster... does it?

More Toxic Waste Recalls

Last January Toxic Waste candy recalled a bunch of their treats due to high lead levels.  Well once again, another series of candies they produced has been found to contain higher than allowed levels of lead.  Seriously we get it, Toxic Waste, very funny, but enough with the lead.

White Rabbit Candy Makes a Comeback?

A few years back the folks that make White Rabbit chewy candies in China had a bit of a setback.  Now that the dust has settled and the candy is safe once again for consumption they've decided to go on an advertising blitz.  While I'm not sure how affective advertisements, such as the creepy one above, will be.  I'm sure the candy itself will be fine,  because if you get a chance to try one of these great little treats you'll be happy you did.

Irony In Candy

In what I can only describe as the greatest irony in candy history, there has been a huge recall in Toxic Waste Candy.  It would be totally amazing if the recall was because the candy contained some form of toxic waste, but instead it's just lead.

Look Out Monterey California

Apparently there's a food recall in your area.  Reori candy, made in India, has been recalled because it contains too much lead... wait a minute, I would think any lead is too much.

Don't Eat Mothballs

The EPA has just put out a warning about a particular brand of mothballs that looks just like yummy, yummy candy.  So if you find yourself at a store and you're wondering if that bag of candy might in fact be mothballs, better to play it safe and go for something else.

California Candy Recall!

If you've found yourself enjoying a "DaiJyoBu Ginger Candy" you might want to read this article. Apparently some of them (imported from China) have been found to contain lead. I'm not sure what one does after they may have consumed lead, but I'd recommend not going for seconds.

Presidents Choice Recall

Presidents Choice (a famous brand here in Canada) has posted a recall on some of their Decadent Chocolate Chip cookies. The main reason I posted this is after reading it I remember that two nights ago I completely indulged in a bag and started to panic. Fortunately I had a few left over and managed to determine that my batch is OK.

Undeclared Allergy Alert

It seems strange that a company would have to recall a whole bunch of candy because they messed up a label, but that's the law. It's not that I think people with allergies are ruining anything for others, it just seems like a big waste of food.

Recall Issues

Apparently the American federal government is having trouble recalling items including foods. People just seem to be ignoring recalls and continuing to use, possibly, dangerous products. The American government wants to know why. You know why I think people don't return stuff? Because so much of what we own breaks, or goes bad so quickly anyways that we don't even think to return it if they tell us it's going to break. Planned obsolescence has finally backfired on some of the big companies.

Some People Don't Understand How Important Labels Are

Kroger grocery store has apparently recalled a bunch of ice cream because the type of nut listed is in fact incorrect. Now I'm sure that the folks at this store have some good ideas of what they'll do with the perfectly fine contents of these mislabeled ice cream tubs... My address if available upon request.
