Licking a Glacier... Seriously Cool

 While exploring the newly formed icebergs in a lagoon in Iceland, I thought the best thing to do would be to take a lick.

This Week In Candy

Boy is it cold out there. It's our first winter in six years (we've been living overseas) and it's been pretty extreme, in Canada where I live we've had more than 150 cm of snow, and as I write this the temperature is around -15 degrees. It got me thinking about winter candy, or the lack of it. Sure there are a huge range of candies for Christmas, but the day after Christmas Valentine's day and Easter candies start to appear on the shelf. What about January, and half of February, what are we supposed to eat then?

A great deal of candy in this world is really designed for summer. Anything you eat with your fingers can be cumbersome while wearing gloves or mitts. Mint flavours make your insides freeze along with your outsides. Most fruit flavours just remind me of warmer days, and that's depressing. And ice cream is just out of the question. So what kind of candy can we eat in the winter? Maybe I'll think about it and try and design some specialty winter treats. If you have any ideas, let me know on Facebook, Twitter, or comment below.

To help me think about warmer days, I decided to review a classic African candy bar.  I figure that since it's summer there right now, maybe it'll make me feel better (nope). A Scary Skull Candy Thing

The great thing about silicon molds is the amazing diversity of things you can make with them.  These skull shaped ice molds will make your next drink party pretty awesome, but they'll also make your next batch of cake pops fantastic, and if you're into making your own chocolates you'll have some awesome results.  I think the idea of making a cake pop that's filled with a blood read cherry cream or syrup would be the perfect addition to any macabre party.

Candy In The Media

Whenever I travel I seem to come across an inordinate amount of Polish television channels, I'm not sure why this is.  However, I'm always delighted with the kinds of commercials they have on these channels.  I think I find them more entertaining because I don't speak the language and therefore have no idea what's going on. Recently I've starting seeing this commercial on fairly regularly basis and each time I see it I giggle out loud.  I'm not sure why I love this commercial, only because there's so much to love.

A Cool Candy Thing

I think my love of Lego is fairly well known.  This silicon mold would be perfect for making chocolates, ice cubes, or even little cakes.  The only thing that would improve this mold is if instead of making full Lego men, you would make the parts to make a Lego man.  That way you could maybe make a fully functional Lego man that you could take apart.

A Cool Candy Thing

Last week we posted a link to a Death Star ice mold that could be used for so many other products, like chocolate, or cakes.  This week I've found an even cooler mold, the Millennium Falcon.  This mold is cooler because the Millennium Falcon played a more mobile role in the movies.  The Death Star just hung in the air not really doing much except the occasional deadly laser blast.  The Millennium Falcon on the other hand swooped around shooting things and being generally cool.  So you could easily play with whatever you make using this mold in so many more ways.  You could even recreate the scene where the giant worm eats the Falcon, and you could play the worm..
