We Ended Last Week With A Kit Kat, We Start This Week With A Kit Kat - Kit Kat Mini "Mocha"

I just couldn't help but post another Kit Kat review, it would be weird to leave this one out. It's not the best, or most unique Kit Kat that we reviewed in our Kit Kat review-a-thon, but it was the one we had left over, and I couldn't just leave it behind.

Click here to read yet another Kit Kat variant review.
On a slightly off topic note, our sister site bewarethecheese.com is having a gallery show opening this Friday in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I will certainly be there to show off the work, and would be happy to chat about candy with anybody, as well as the artwork that is being shown. So come stop by Cloud (directions here) this Friday and say hello.

Stuff I Want To Try

"Liz Lemon" Greek Yogurt Ice Cream - Ben & Jerry's - I want to try this because 30 Rock was awesome and random, and I'm hoping this flavour represents it well. - Click here to learn more about this treat.

Beware The Cheese's Art Show

Last night's art show for our sister site bewarethecheese.com was a great success, and we have some great news.
The folks at the Finnish Institute (the folks that hosted the show) were so happy that they asked them if I would keep some of the pieces on display in their library for a while longer.  Considering how beautiful their establishment is, they couldn't refuse.  So much of the work will remain on display for two more weeks at the Finnish Institute at Athens in their library.  The Institutes hours are from 9 am to 2 pm (however they often stay open later, call them to make sure) weekdays.

Tomorrow in Athens!!!

I just wanted to remind you one last time that our sister site Beware the Cheese Photography (www.bewarethecheese.com) is having a really big art show.  The show is the premier of their photography/mixed media series called "Senses".  If you find yourself in the Athens (Greece) area on December 7th (that's tomorrow), come on out to the Canadian Institute in Greece, and show a little support for the photographers that shoot the stuff for Candy Critic.

Hey guys, if you can't make it to the show, you can check out our live feed from the show on December 7th at 7:30 Athens time.

Pop Tarts Pop Art

The folks at Pop Tarts had a really fun contest a little while ago, they asked people what they would do with one million Pop Tarts.  It appears that a fun artist suggested that he would make some cool looking art with them.  As it turns out the folks at Pop Tarts thought this was a great idea.  So they sent him the Pop Tarts, and he made the art.

Snacks at Comic Convention

Reece was the first company I'd heard of doing this, but it appears the folks at Hi-Chews have started as well.  What I'm talking about is candy companies have started to appear at un-candy related trade shows.  Reece showed up at a big computer show in Vegas to release their new super mini cups, and now Hi-Chews will be at a Comic convention in Chicago.  I don't disagree with this, I guess, but it seems a little strange if you ask me.

Flaming Cupcakes

I don't normally like to post recipes on this site, mostly because I suck at baking and they only make me feel inadequate.  However I think a recipe for "chocolate cupcakes with flaming strawberries" is well worth the exception.

Candy And Dance

I've said on this blog about a million times that I love it when candy and art collide.  Most people think it's just visual arts, but they're wrong.  I love when music, poetry, and even dance mix with candy.  Speaking of dance and candy, it appears that studio red is having a candy themed ballet show.  They decided to make a dance interpretation of the board game Candyland, and it sounds great.

Yet another presentation of Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory.  It seems like there are many productions of this play happening right now.

Willy Wonka Playing In Woodburn

I've decided that every time I see a theater production of Willy Wonka, or any other candy related play/story posted anywhere I'm going to promote it.  I figure it's a wonderful combination of art and candy together and frankly that's what I'm all about.

Coconuts For Sale

Throughout many of the tourist spots here in Athens one often finds these vendors selling coconut treats. Actually only some of the items for sale could be deemed as treats, the main attraction is actually just chunks of coconut. They keep the chunks hydrated with mini sprinklers that put on a good show. The only treat they seem to have is these small little logs that I can only assume are made up of coconut.

Good Advice Given At Candy Show

"Take Chances" is the advice given to the folks at the candy show this week and frankly I couldn't agree any more. The advice was given to candy companies as to how they should create treats in the candy market. I couldn't agree more, I taste so many treats that are pretty much the same thing over and over again. If you send me a treat to sample and it's the same thing I've eaten a hundred times, even if I like it, it may not do as well as something that I've never tried before, even if it's a little gross.

Fashion And Candy Collide Once Again

More news from the big candy show. It appears that Ed Hardy has branched into the candy world. Once again proving my point that candy and art (or in this case fashion) are so tied in together.

No Candy Show... Doh!

This time of year always makes me happy and sad all at the same time. The National Confectioners Association is having their big candy show, and that's great because it means that there will be all kinds of cool new treats coming out, and coming to me in the next little while. The part that makes me sad is that once again I can't make it out to the show itself. I've been, and it's a wonderful fun land of treats and sweets. Well at least I can read about it on the internet... sigh...

Wonka Live

I came across this article about a local stage perfomance of Willy Wonka and I didn't think much of it.
Then I saw this picture and I instantly wanted tickets.

No Gluten for 2010

According to the Examiner and the Fancy Food Fair 2010 will be the year of gluten free. I’d rather it be the year of free gluten but I get what I can. I’m always a little apprehensive when I come across gluten free food, however I have had a few gluten free treats that taste great. Let us see if a gluten free year is a good one.

Brazilian Candy Show

My dream job would be simple. I want to continue to do Candy Critic, write about candy, however I also want a big enough budget that I could attend every single candy trade show in the world. I’d travel around trying out treats and seeing cool sites all at the same time. If anybody wants to sponsor me I’m more than happy to pack my bags tomorrow. If anybody wants one of the greatest candy fanatics to speak at your show and are willing to pay for the travel and accommodations I’m all ears.
