Classic/Creative Candy Advertising - Softest Sleep Ever

The idea of sleeping in a giant bag of marshmallows sounds pretty dam sweet.  These sleeping bags would make for the greatest camping experience ever... until the local bear population caught your scent.

I found this ad on Boing Boing.

This Week In Candy

Candy News -  This week has been filled with news about inovations in the candy world.  Not just large companies either, I've come across so many links of people making great things out of candy.  Maybe we should start a branch of Makers for foodies.

What's Happening At Candy Critic -  This week we're doing a special feature all about the best sweet fillings for Pillsbury crescent rolls.  These little rolls are great on their own, but can be even better if you roll in a little filling too.  Next week we're not going to have a "This Week In Candy" because I'm going to be really swamped with another project and I might not have access to internet where I'm doing it.

Rant - Who ever said that you can't be creative with baking, probably only reads one cookbook.  I've recently been working on a lot of baking projects, with a lot of research into baking, and I've learnt so much about breaking the rules when it comes to baking.  After all, if no one ever broke the rules to baking, we wouldn't have so many varieties of baked treats available.

This Month Is Peanut Butter Lover's Month

Here's reason number 22 to love peanut butter:

Because when you can't find it (some places peanut butter isn't very common at all) you'll want it even more.

What to do in Kokubunji

So what did I do on a little trip to Kokubunji?

Well I took a little walk around the down town neighbourhood.

Saw this great window decal on the 100-yen shop.
Found this great cake and fruit shop with yummy looking treats and fruit.
But the main reason I made the trip was to meet up with Yukari Sakamoto a chef, writer and all around Japanese food expert. She was nice enough to sit with me and give me all kinds of tips about the book I’m working on right now. She also gave me some great tips about general eating here in Japan. She just finished writing a book all about Japanese foods perfect for anybody that’s planning a trip out here in the future.

Expensive water.

Hey this water is pricey, $8.50 a bottle, I'll be sure not drink any while I stay at this hotel.
Hey are those cashews? Yum... Crunch, crunch, crunch.

Favourite Cookie

I've blogged before about what I consider to be the best cookie ever. In the past I've mentioned this little coffee shop on the Atrium on bay in Toronto having this Oatmeal cookie that blew my mind.

Well for a while I avoided it because I thought it would ruin the memories. I avoid no more, I picked one up while I stopped in Toronto and was overjoyed to know that the cookie still stands up as one of the best I've ever eaten.
