Hershey's is opening a Chocolate World in Las Vegas, I hear Tom Jones has a sweet tooth.
For all of you Americans waiting for the Twinkie to come back, it's happening soon.
"World cocoa market will be in deficit for next two years"... This is not good news.
The worst part of having a cocoa deficit? As it turns out cocoa might fight off diabetes.
This list of candies that are supposedly no longer available isn't completely accurate, but the parts that are make me a little sad.
Did you know that Tootsie just revamped their recipe page? Did you know that you could cook with Tootsie Rolls?
Fruit infused cocoa beans, chocolate and fruit go together, so this seems like it might work.
Are hard candies coming back into style, or did they ever leave?
If a jelly donut is considered a wild choice for you, these might be a little out of your league.

Old Candy Critic Articles - The 12 Candies of Christmas Part 4
at
11:00 AM
I've decided to take down several old articles from the candycritic.org and re-post them here on the Candy Critic blog. This article I've decided to re-post a little differently. Since it's a special post for Christmas, the 12 days of Christmas in particular, I've decided to split it up into 12 parts and count down the days till the fat guy's going to bring me some sweet gifts.
'Tis the season to eat candy fa la la la la la la laaaaaa. As we all know Santa's Sack includes candy, and you know it's always what I want for Christmas. The question, with all of the Christmas candy out on the market, is which candy really says Christmas. Well in classic Candy Critic style we're going to tell you, and you better believe we're going to make it as cheesy as possible. Sooooooo.....
On the fourth day of Christmas (whenever that is) my true love gave to me......
One handful filled with Christmas Candies
I can't say that these are my favourite candies in the world, in fact the only time I eat them is after Christmas. But no matter what, Christmas would not be the same without them. I'm not to sure but I think I might even like these treats a little more when they're stale, although they do clump up so breaking them off can be a little difficult. The best, or at least most festive part of these treats has to be the colours. No matter what, considering the name of these treats, they have to be a holiday tradition.

Fruit and Spice Review
at
10:00 AM
I'm no expert in the area of organic fruit or vegetables, so whenever I get a treat that's organic I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for. Are organic products better for you, health wise? Do they taste different than non-organic products? I just hope that organic is some kind of marketing ploy, and I hope that someone can give me some hard facts on the subject.

Scratchy Throat? Check Out This New Review
at
10:00 AM
"Wild Berry"... There's an implication that a berry grown in the wild is better than a berry grown on a farm. When I was a kid, we used to pick wild raspberries behind a cottage I used to regularly visit. They tasted great, but I'm not sure if they tasted better than berries grown on a farm. I'm not comparing wild berries to berries bought at a grocery store in this case either. Grocery store berries are not necessarily fresh and are often stored in cold environments. This changes the berries and lowers the quality. When I talk about farmed berries, I'm talking about the berries one eats when you're supposed to be picking your own berries at a "you pick them" farm.

Not That Strange A Candy, In Our Asian Candy Review-a-Thon
at
10:00 AM
Normally when I do review-a-thons from other countries I find that many of the treats have something strange about them. Sometimes it's the treat itself, sometimes it's the package, and sometimes it's how you eat it. Today's review on the other hand is strange, only because it's really not that strange at all. It's not that it's bad necessarily, it's just not that strange.

Candy Art - Unreal Rolled Hard Candy
at
2:00 PM
I came across these great pieces of edible hard candy art. I'm always impressed that the detail people can get out of hard candy, and I can appreciate the skill it takes to get such detail.
What blows me away most of all is the fact that these images aren't abstract. I'm fairly familiar with the process of making this kind of treat, but I can't wrap my mind around how you create the pattern to make an understandable image.
For those that doubt that candy making is an art, these treats should really change your mind on the subject.
Check out some more of these amazing treats here.

It's National Peanut Brittle Day!
at
9:07 AM
What could possibly be better than taking a super brittle (hence the name) treat and putting crunchy nuts on top?

Christmas Review and It's National Hard Candy Day
at
8:18 PM
I'm not sure which of these makes me happier. I love holiday themed treats so the idea of eating a marshmallow Santa is kind of cool. But I also like a hard candy now and again, so National Hard Candy Day is pretty thrilling too. Well I guess I'll just have to celebrate both evenly.

Candy Is A Choking Hazard!
at
11:59 AM
This just seems wrong, how can food be considered a choking hazard? It's pretty much part of the risk of eating anything if you ask me. Putting food into your throat is a hazard, but one we will all have to take part in. These kind of articles make me so mad I cou.... *choking*....
