Fruit and Spice Review

I'm no expert in the area of organic fruit or vegetables, so whenever I get a treat that's organic I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for.  Are organic products better for you, health wise?  Do they taste different than non-organic products?  I just hope that organic is some kind of marketing ploy, and I hope that someone can give me some hard facts on the subject.

Halloween Candy Links - Part 1?

Check out Surf Sweets newest organic treat, little gummy spiders perfect for Halloween.

If you want to go with something a little fancy for a love one on Halloween, check out Zoe's Chocolate's, ask about Petro's Pumpkin.

If you make, or know of, a great Halloween treat that some of us might not know about, let us know so we can tell the world about it.

Friday's Candy Links

Is sugar the problem with obesity in the world?  Sure, but I don't think it's all candies fault.

I'm not really sure where "Summit County" is, but I can tell you that they have a few sweet shops worth checking out.

Is organic candy better than non-organic candy?

What do OREOs and same sex marriage have in common?.. Well it should be nothing at all, OREOs are cookies and same sex marriage is a debate being held by several governments all over the world.

Thursday's Candy Links

Nestle doesn't think that organic food is going to ever become mainstream.

What the heck is a Choconana?

How does the local availability of a Popsicle and the quality of your living space correlate?  The math makes sense.

"Mars Chocolate North America to Distribute Nine Million Mars Random Acts of Chocolate This Fall".  In other words lots of free chocolate is coming.

Ben and Jerry's release a new flavour of ice cream, Schweddy Balls, I understand there's an SNL joke in there but I don't know it.

Why I Think Organic and Natural Candy Is Good

I'm not going to say that I like all organic and natural candy, however I will say that more often than not these candies are good.  I don't believe, however, that the ingredients are the key to this candies success.  I think the key is the fact that most organic and natural candy manufacturers tend to worry about small details more than the companies that don't go natural.  They have to in order to be able to market as natural or organic, so you often find that the quality is very high.

Mars Is Going Green

First Cadbury started to go with more socially responsible chocolate, now it appears Mars is doing the same.  This is good news for the environment, and the kind of news I can get behind.  This is assuming that they don't lower the quality of their chocolate because they now have to pay more for the cocoa.

Modern Day Chocolatiers at Taza

I just read this article about a Chocolate making company known as Taza.  I can't say I've ever tried any of their treats, but I can say that I want to.

Lollipops In The Mail

Nothing makes me happier than getting mail. Even if it's not candy, I love getting mail.
However when it's a bag of lollipops from Yummy Earth, I do get an extra spring in my step.

Organic May Not Be Better For You

I should mention that I'm not saying you shouldn't go organic. In fact I'm often for food companies and consumers making that choice. What I don't like is the assumption that organic is healthier for you all of the time. I think it's probably healthier for the environment, and I think that companies that use organic products often have a better attention to detail than others that don't. I just can't figure out why it might be more or less healthy for me.

My Opinion On Organic

As a rule I don't really find myself searching out for organic treats. I've had, and reviewed a few in my lifetime and generally I seem to remember them being fairly tasty. I'm not sure if they where tastier than an un-organic version most often because many organic treats seem to focus on natural flavours. So I guess I'm down with organics mostly because the companies producing them are working hard to make great treats.

Organic Big Gulp

What's next organic nachos, hot dogs, or those deep fried looking things that don't really look appetizing unless you've had too much to drink. The organic Big Gulp could be a new trend for 7-11.

Another Easter Review Because It’s Easter Soon

Easter is quickly approaching and I’m so excited. Actually because of the way this reviewing thing works I’ve actually already eaten a ton of Easter candy already. But come Easter morning when I’m in my one piece jammies running down the stairs I can for some reason still manage to get a whole chocolate bunny into my tummy before breakfast. It’s strange what the holidays will make you do.

PETA Award for Food

I didn’t even know PETA gave out awards in the food category. It’s good news for the folks at Harbour Candy that won the award but now it makes me wonder who else has food related awards, Green Peace, The Academy of Motion Pictures?
