Quick List For Adults

Here's a quick list of the best adult candies I've ever reviewed on candycritic.org. What makes a candy adult could probably be subject of a future podcast.

I'm Feeling A Little Bitter and Old Because Of This Review - Snickers "Adult Bitter"

There's a trend in Japan that kind of makes sense, but is also really weird. The trend is associating dark chocolate with being an adult. According to several  chocolate bars in Japan (this week's review included), only grown ups eat dark chocolate. While I can't deny that many of the people I know who really enjoy dark chocolate are adults, I don't know if there's enough of them to say that all dark chocolate should be for adults. I think there are kids out there that also like dark chocolate, and many dignified adults who don't. It's a weird generalization.

And make sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to keep up with all our non-adult shenanigans.

A Cool Candy Thing - Movie Edition Part 3

This week on our Cool Candy Thing - Movie Edition, we're looking at movies for adults.  While I don't suggest anybody search "adult movies candy" on Google, since you'll likely come up with very adult themes.  It is interesting to note that even the non-XXX rated adult movies about candy seem to really focus on the relationship between sex and candy.  It seems that as you grow older candy is supposed to represent passion instead of wholesome fun.  I've always seen candy as a way to stay young and child like, but it appears that many filmmakers see it as a bridge to sex.

Chocolat

I have to admit that I haven't seen either film that I'm mentioning today.  However, of the two, this is the one I'd most like to see.  I enjoy the work of Johnny Depp, and the basic concept of this movie seems fairly entertaining.

Consuming Passion

From what I've read, this movie was written by some of the members of Monty Python and that's a plus in my book.  While the idea of a man that accidentally puts people into their chocolates sounds interesting, I'm not sure if I really want to see this movie, as it looks a little cheesy to me.

Classic/Creative Candy Advertising

Apparently at one point Kinder thought they would try to market to adults, instead of children.  So what's the best direction to go if you want to sell candy to adults?  Sex.

This Week In Candy

Last week, sadly, our little pet cockatiel Jody passed away.  She's been with us since the start of Candy Critic and she lived a pretty good life.  She not only provided us with a fun distraction, but on occasion she was know to have sampled a few of the salty snacks along with us (we didn't let her eat the sweet ones).  She will be missed.

Well, back to the candy, in particular, Halloween.  I've noticed a new trend in Halloween, but I'm not sure how accurate it is.  I think kids these days aren't really as "into" Halloween as the grown ups.  While my family enjoyed Halloween and we always went out trick or treating, I don't think my parents generation got all dressed up as people do now.  Basically I think Halloween is turning into an adults holiday, maybe even more than a kids holiday.  I start to wonder how this will affect the candy portion of this tradition.

Finally I'm still looking for more candy companies that are releasing special treats for Halloween.  If you're a candy company with any kind of special treats out for the upcoming holiday, drop us a line because we want to promote you for free.

Suri Cruise Can Eat What She Wants

I'm not sure if this is really "news", but apparently Suri Cruise (Tom and Katies daughter) accidentally picked up a questionable box of gummies and was seen doing this.  Now I'm sure she didn't pick out this questionable box of gummies on purpose, she probably just saw that is was candy and wanted it.  But the press needs fodder, so here's the story.

Sugar Might Not Make You Hyper

Some studies have found that sugar may not lead to hyperactivity, this is good news, particularly for parents this time of year. However I have to disagree a little on this idea, I think that the anticipation of sugar can lead to some pretty hyper kids. I think that toys and cartoons are also responsible for the same kind of hyperactivity. So it's simple, if you offer people something they really want (in particular kids with no inhibitions) they go mental.

Chocolate Undies

So many times in my life have I seen womens underwear with a candy theme. Frankly as a man I've been feeling left out. I mean we all want the opportunity to arouse our significant others with the site of sweet treats on our underwear. Lucky for me I came across this cool pair of mens underwear cleverly decorated with sweet chocolates.

Is Candy Kids Stuff?

I just finished reading this fascinating article about a woman and her re-united love of candy. People see adults eating candy and instantly assume that their immature, but there's so much fun to be had by people of all ages that I find that it's wrong to assume that it's all kids stuff.

A Sundae With Booze On Top

Apparently a company has finally manufactured spray on whipped cream with booze in it. I'm not saying that it's not classy, but I just can't see the Queen of England sitting back with a can. I'm just saying.

Ok… Ummmm… Mints.

Hmmmm… I don’t really know how to describe this article except to say that it’s not safe for children and I’m not sure if it’s at all for real.
