This Week In Candy

I've got major website update on my brain. There are two inspirations to update the whole look of the site, one is a comment someone made, the other is a feeling.  The feeling comes from the fact that it's spring, and spring cleaning is in the air. This often makes me think about spring cleaning on my websites as well.  The comment came from a young web designer who commented that although the content of my site was fine, the look (and coding) was horrible.  It hurt a little, but I do know there are a few things I've wanted to change about the site lately.  My first choice is do I change just the look of the site, the second choice is to update how the whole site works.  I'm not very good at a lot of this modern web coding, but there are also a few tools out there that might help me out.  Basically I'm looking at you guys out there, can you help me update candycritic.org, or maybe I shouldn't bother?

Other than that, the regular workings here are going to keep on trucking. Allison and I are thinking of per-recording a bunch of episodes of Junk Fud On The Road over the next month.  We're both going to be super busy this summer, and it would be nice to get ahead. I'm also starting to prep things here for Easter, including deciding what should be the official Easter review.  Let me know if you have any Easter favorites you think we shouldn't miss this year on Facebook and Twitter. We're also plugging away at the Doughnut Project, and we should have a few new entries later this week.

This week's new review should have been perfect, but its imperfects were so great that it made it really disappointing. Not what I would expect from the folks at Trader Joe's. Click here to find out why things went downhill.

Other than all the chocolate, my favorite thing about Easter is the signifier that spring is here.  Nature starts to bloom, ice cream can be consumed, and the outdoors is habitable once again.  This photo, from our sister site bewarethecheese.com really screams springtime to me.  It reminds me how well nice weather, and tasty candy go together this time of year.

This Week In Candy

Spring is in the air here at Candy Critic.  Spring means a few things to us.  First of all it means that we now have an excuse to go out and buy some ice cream.  It also means that we should get all of the chocolate we want mailed to us mailed soon, because many candy companies will not ship chocolate in the summer.  Spring, particularly after Easter (for most of the world), means that we have to wait till October for a candy-centric holiday to roll around again.

Last week we had planned to publish a piece about chewing gum innovation  but due to a schedule problem we couldn't get it up online.  We should be able to get it up this week, so keep your eyes peeled.

Finally, our sister site www.bewarethecheese.com is putting together a photo show in two weeks. You'll see a few posts about it in the near future, and we hope, if you're in the Athens Greece area, you can stop by and say hello.

It's Spring Time

So what better way to celebrate spring than eating a chocolate butterfly?  Actually, today I saw a butterfly up at my apartment window.  It's kind of uncommon because I'm not that close to the bottom and they rarely make it up this high.  So it was kind of cool, and inspiring for today's review.

New Review

Last night I had a bowl of berries, today I'm posting a fruity review. Summer is coming. This is so cool, I've seen a few really warm days so far and I'm starting to see sprouts in the ground and even a few spring flowers. Sure it sucks having a really cold winter here in Canada, but that just makes the spring a little bit neater.
