What kind of candy should I eat when I go to this movie?

I just got an e-mail about a film in the works about the candy industry called Shelf Life by Michael Layhey. I don’t want to give away anything about the movie but I can assure you from what they sent me I’ll be keeping up with their progress. I’ll post anything I get about it on the blog and if I get a chance I’ll do my first movie review about it when it comes out. I just wonder how it will score on Taste, Texture, and Novelty.

Candy Educational Tools

I’m learning about gummy worms or is it genetics. Boing Boing has a post about a photographer that shoots candy to represent science. It’s pretty clever.

Jon's Cereal Brigade!

Morning and happy return to the Cereal Brigade! I was out of action there for a while owing to yet another dearth of milk and cereal! However I have returned with a new box of Cocoa Krispies....but compared to the Japanese variety...these are most lackluster! I would only give them a 7 out of 10, because they have only been lightly dusted with cocoa powder! The Japanese variety are encased in cocoa! Otherwise they were the same I think... but this apparently more local variety is indeed not nearly as good! Now, in honour of the superior nature of Japanese Cocoa Krispies, here's a commercial from Japan for another Kellogg's cereal - Kombos! Enjoy!

Crazy Candy Store Mystery

The Chive has this great colourful picture of the famous Belgium statue. It looks like it might be decorations for a candy store and I want to know where.

Pop Goes My Lunch

A group of New York artist/designers have decided to create places for people to eat lunch in New York City. They’ve designed a whole bunch of contraptions that allow the street food dinner the ultimate in luxury. I may have to make a trip to check this out.

I really like my mail person.

The joys of getting a package in the mail will never grow old on me. Today I got a package from the fine folks at Honibe. They make little honey sweeteners for tea and coffee that frankly I’m dying to try and not willing to share. They also make a candy form of sweet little honey drops in lemon and regular. Thanks folks from Honibe, a review is on the way!

Another Lunch Box Piece

I love the simplicity and the colour of each of Lisa’s pieces. It really shows the spirit of candy, and that’s simply fun.

Paper or Plastic

Today while purchasing a Coke product the store clerk handed me this fun little envelope that had all kind of winning potential. After looking over it quickly I saw that the campaign was all about being environmentally conscious and the prizes where apparently all made up of recycled bottles.

I find it odd to make a prize ticket about environmental awareness out of so much paper. It was a lot bigger than most prize tickets and it had you rip off the top and bottom and it also had a huge black square in the middle. I know that the paper used to make this ticket was recycled but I always thought reducing was more important.

Either way I can’t complain too much because I won another free Coke.

Kind of Strange

I got this link via Facebook and I though this photo was just too strange for words. Check it out if you’re hooked up to Facebook and leave a comment.

Creepy after Halloween

Comedy.com has a nice little selection of creepy vintage advertising that also includes some candy ads. I may have seen some of these before but it never hurts to share again.

The Cadbury People Say No

It appears that Cadbury and Kraft will not be forming a super food company so my dreams of macaroni and caramel will have to wait for another corporate merger.

Fruit is fun.

I think I really love fruit because it has such a close tie with candy. The only thing that might be even more related might be nuts. Fruit however can be used in so many ways to accent, flavour, and colour candy that it blows my mind. I always love getting new treats that use fruit in a new (at least to me) way. This review is just that, it also uses one of my favourite fruits of all times. As you would imagine by this post, me second favourite food, after candy, is fruit.

Happy Bitter Sweet Chocolate With Almond Day!

To celebrate this most illustrious of all holidays I’ve decided to chow down on a Burnt Almond Bar.
This particular treat was a favourite of my sisters when we where kids and I couldn’t figure out why anybody would want a burnt chocolate bar over a bag of gummy bears or a Tootsie Pop. As I grew older I developed a taste for dark chocolate and I guess these aren’t that bad, although the chocolate is a little waxy.

I Don’t Have Enough Bread To Buy These.

Apparently some people feel that candy isn’t the only way to play with your food. I still think it’s the best way to play with your food but a pair of these shoes would look really smart.

Ice Cream Mural

It was great to see this mural off College Avenue in Toronto; it was horrible that the ice cream store it was advertising was closed.

Jon's Cereal Brigade!

Astounding Morning to you all! I have finished my tour through French Toast Crunch and I have to say I highly recommend it, especially if you've never had it, especially if you love French Toast. Oh, true, there are better candy cereals out there... but this one is totally worth a try! Now, for today's video I perchanced to find a wonderful tongue twister scene from Pinky and the Brain, can you follow closely and comprehend what the heck Brain is trying to get Pinky to do? Can you do it at 7:30 in the morning? I have to say, I'm having trouble keeping it all straight, however, I do know that I love playing with Kicky Sack Socko Sack Kickers! Enjoy!
