I Normally Don't Eat Spicy Food But... - Aero Truffle "Dark Chipotle"

I don't understand why some people can just eat spicy food, and others cannot. I say this from the point of view of someone who does not generally enjoy spicy food. I wish that I could have been in love with spicy food since I was a child, but frankly I've just started to build a tolerance for it, and it's far from being something pleasurable. At this point I eat spicy food in order to build a tolerance, or to be polite. I still don't really enjoy spicy food for the fact that it's spicy. I enjoy some spicy foods, but I feel like taking the spice away would only make this food more pleasurable. I don't know why I was born this way, or even if I was born this way, but here I am.

Amazing Candy/Junk Food Thing That You Should Buy - Grandpa Witmer's Old Fashioned Nut Butter Mixer

It's rare that I post something on this blog that is at all useful, however I would argue that every house in the world should have one of these.

A Bar Specifically Designed To Cure The Munchies - Oh Henry "4:25"

Having been away from Canada for the last few years, I forgot about the legalization of marijuana. Frankly since being back it's hardly affected me. I've smelt it on the streets a few times, but I doubt more often than I did before I left. The thing that really interests me is the fact that other than Oh Henry, with this bar, no other candy or snack companies have attached their brand to this new trend. I'm thinking that sales must have gone up a bit in the last year, so maybe they figured why change the brand when people already know you make snacks.

You can also follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to keep up with our return back to Canada.

Make sure to check out our Patreon page too, we're giving away issues of our micro comic Snack Facts.

This New Episode Of Junk Fud On The Road Deals With Tea And Trains

Sri Lanka was a pretty interesting place to visit. Food wise it had a really interesting vibe. The train snacks and the tea were amazing, the Sri Lankan food was hard to find.

Time To Eat Cereal Out Of A Can In This Episode Of Chris, Why Would You Eat That?!!

The worst part about this cereal in a can? It's actually the fact that it came out of a can, other than that it's not too bad.

It's Time To Think About Nougat - Vital Belgian Top Nougat

Nougat has always been a bit of an enigma to me. It's an ingredient found in many of my favourite treats, yet on its own I have trouble appreciating it. It's a really unique ingredient in the candy world, and I think it might become an obsession. Much like licorice and spicy foods, I want to develop an appreciation for nougat. The only way to do that is to sample as many nougats as I can. It might even call for me to try and make a few myself. To be honest, I don't even know all of the ingredients that go into a nougat.

Click here to read the review that made me think about nougat.

You can also follow candycritic.org on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to keep up with my quest to love nougat.

Also, be sure to download (for free) our very first micro comic, Snack Facts issue 0.

So Canada... Eh? - Cookies & Cream Slab

Normally when I post this Monday blog, I write about the new review we've just posted on candycritic.org. Today however I have something else to talk about. As you may or may not have known, I had been living for the last 3 years in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It was a great place to be, and a really interesting place to get snacks. This past weekend however I left this fine city to head back to my home and native land, Canada. More specifically I'm now living in Ottawa. Well you could call it living, except for the fact that I'm still under quarantine and locked up in a small apartment until the government is fairly certain I don't have Covid 19.

I'm fine being locked up, it's giving me time to work on Snack Facts, and maybe work on a few blog posts as well. It's also giving me time to comb through the Canadian grocery store websites to plan out some of the treats that I'll sample now that I'm living in Canada again. I have to say, I'm pretty excited about some of the treats.

Also be sure to follow me on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter to keep up with the quarantine and what's happening here in Canada.

You can also follow Candy Critic on Patreon where we just updated several of the tiers.
