Candy Vacations Sound Awesome
I say this even though just about every vacation I ever take involves a few candy stops. A tour in New York (that was listed #3 in Trip Advisors top 10 sweet travel spots) looks fantastic, and it's in a city that I love visiting anyways.

Back in the old days... When the Mayans where scattered all over the Americas, cocoa was considered so valuable that it was a currency all to itself. Today it appears that the import export business of chocolate, cocoa is once again a currency on its own.

The Price Of Ice Cream
Fine ice cream costs money. If you want to go to a fine ice cream or gelato shop you can be looking at paying between 10 and 5 dollars a scoop. But is it worth it? Sometimes it is, sometimes you get the taste of a lifetime, sometimes you get crap, filled with ice chucks and horrible flavours. I've also been to places that charge 1 or 2 dollars a scoop and been delighted. So is the risk worth it?

Food Is Wasted
I love food, I love everything about food, I hate the idea that some food is not being eaten. I don't like to use the old expression, but there are in fact starving people in other countries. Boing Boing posted a great piece about the amount of food that is wasted and frankly I think it's startling.

Candy Family
One of the great things about the candy business is how many of them are run by families. In some cases a family member will grow up in the candy world and split off from the main candy business to start their own. The reason why this happens is that the candy business is more than just making candy. It's also about business, art, and marketing, so families can pass on businesses even if the kids aren't interested in the same things. Here's an article about just such a man.

Greek Ice Cream Commercial
I must say that in Europe they are much more liberal with their advertising. I'm pretty sure that this commercial is primarily geared towards men, and men over the age of 16? Some might say this is not safe for work, but I guess that all depends on where you work.

New Ghirardelli Flavour Is Coming Soon
A while back Ghirardelli had a competition to design the next flavour of chocolate. Well the competition is down to the final five and each flavour makes my mouth water. Why not call it a tie.

Less Sugar In Cereal
I have a confession to make. I know that I say you should eat sweets in moderation, and that treats are fine to be sweet but other meals shouldn't be. Well I have to make an exception, I love sugar filled cereals. I love the fake marshmallows, the chocolate coating, and even the super sweet fruit flavours. They just taste so good and make me feel great in the morning. I'm a little sad that Kellogg's is cutting down on the sugar, and I just hope the taste doesn't change.

Chocolate In Russia
It appears the Russia is becoming a booming market in the chocolate world. Sales are up, and companies are starting to expand into this market. I've had a few Russian treats in my day and they're pretty good.

More Good News About Small Portions
Time and time again I've said that if you want to deal with obesity you have to change two things in the food industry. First go after companies that make "healthy treats" that aren't really healthy. Second is to make sweet treats in smaller portions so you can enjoy the great flavour and continue to eat well. Panda licorice is the latest group on board with the portion controlled size.

Dam You E. coli!
New studies are saying that flour can now be added to the list of items that can carry e. coli. This is not good because when that stuff spreads it can make lots of people sick and when it's found in common ingredients it means there are higher risks.

Nano Encapsulation
It's a new thing in science that allows flavours and microscopic food particles to be covered and therefore change the way foods taste. They don't change the flavour, but delay certain flavour elements thus allowing for a variety of flavours in just one bite. And that's only the beginning, this is something that could change the candy world completely.

Chocolate, Fashion, and Sex
Sometimes I really get a kick out of seeing how these three things can be used together. I've seen some great chocolate and candy inspired fashions, I've seen some sexy candy, I've seen a lot more than I've ever published on this site. The reason why I don't post it all can be exemplified in the article below. It's about a photo shoot from a "Top Model" show where they basically covered the models in chocolate. It's not creative and a waste of chocolate.

I think that it's all over for the television world as we know it. I say this not in a bad way at all, I say it with all the respect in the world. I think that television has come up with an idea so good, that nothing will ever beat it. I say this because Cadbury is getting its own channel.

Lindsay Lohan Likes Candy Too
Just because she's in jail doesn't mean we have to totally hate her or anything, I mean the girls just going through tough times. The good thing for her is that she can turn to candy to help her out a little.
