Candy From Around The World
at
11:00 AM
Recently a friend of mine commented about how many times I've tasted a Kit Kat bar, in particular a milk chocolate Kit Kat bar. The difference between these Kit Kat bars is the fact that they were made in different parts of the world. I feel like most people believe that a milk chocolate Kit Kat bar is the same no matter where you buy it. I used to think that myself, but as I've become more and more experienced eating treats from different parts of the world, I've started to realize that it's just not true. So if you see the same treat reviewed several times on candycritic.org, it's not a mistake, it just means I've been traveling a bit.

A Movie About Spicy Snacks Is What The World Needs
at
11:00 AM
I love the idea of telling the stories of how snacks were invented, there's a lot of people out there who built you snacking memories and deserve all the credit in the world.

A Lesson About Heat
at
10:00 AM
Throughout my candy and snack eating life, I've tried to expand my horizons. There are two way I feel that people can expand their food horizons. One is to try new foods that they would have never tried before. A great example for me is spiders. I decided to try eating spiders because other people eat them, and it turns out I kind of like them. The second way to expand your horizons is to take a food you don't really like, and try it in different ways over and over again, to see if you can gain a taste for it. That's exactly how I feel about spicy food. Ten years ago I couldn't handle any kind of spice at all, today I'm getting much better and starting to figure out what people love about spicy foods. This new review would have been very different tens years ago, maybe an episode of Chris, Why Would You Eat That?!!
Check out this spicy review and marvel at the fact that I didn't cry.
Make sure to follow me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to see me eat things that occasionally make me cry.
If you want me to be happy, pick up my newest book, Treats and Beasts, it will not make you cry at all.

Candy In The Media - It Shouldn't Be Hard, But It Is
at
10:00 AM
Most people look at cheesies (or Cheetos)as a simple snack, but actually they're very complicated, and almost impossible to make at home.

Classic/Creative Candy Advertising

There's something very satisfying about licking the cheese powder off of your fingers. Although, when I'm in public I try to be as discrete as possible when I do it. I feel ashamed about doing something that I love. Apparently I'm not the only one.

Friday Candy Video
at
12:00 PM
I've always enjoyed the feeling of stuffing my mouth with certain treats. There's a certain satisfaction is having your mouth full of grapes, Smarties, and caramel cubes. I'm not really sure if I'd like any of those treats propelled at my face at breakneck speeds, in fact I don't know if I could name a food that I would enjoy having propelled at me... maybe marshmallows?

Candy Art - Louis CK in Cheeto Form
at
12:00 PM
I love it when people play with their food, I love it even more when the results are beautiful pieces of art. My favorite feature of this piece is the oil stains, they actually add more depth to the portrait.

It's National Cheese Doodle Day!!!
at
9:00 AM
I love Cheese Doodles, Cheesies, Cheetos, or whatever you happen to call them in your neck of the woods. Up until fairly recently I didn't really know that how these things were made, and what they were made out of. As it turns out they're made of corn meal mush that is extruded into the fun nuggets we know and love (you can read more about the process here). It's actually a really simple system, but I'm not sure how anybody managed to come up with this process in the first place. Was it a factory accident that lead to something great?

Candy News
at

It's Girl Scout cookie season again, here's a few facts that you may not have known about these iconic cookies.
Did you know that there are schools specifically for people that want to study the art of making candy, I think I might enroll in the Bonnie Gordon College of Confectionary Arts.
Ever wonder how they make Cheetos? After reading this, I wondered how they were invented and who came up with this idea.
Popcorn and the movies really go hand in hand, and there's a really interesting history that would make a great movie.
Did you know that Coca-Cola produced a special cola for Gen X? The man was attempting to stick it back on us.
"Kids These Days (Are Smoking Fun-Dip And Smarties)", I wish this headline wasn't so literal.
You would be amazed at the science behind roasting cocoa beans, every detail, even wind velocity, is taken into account.
Here's a great collection of silly chip storage options, some are strange but clever, others are just strange.
I don't normally like to post recipes on this site, but I have a craving for root beer, and some of these sound really tasty.
Do you really want your gum to help increase the health of your bones?
I'm a big fan of home made food atrocities, including this giant Gushers candy made of Fruit Roll Ups, Fruit by the Food, and regular sized Gushers.
If you want to keep up with all of the daily candy news that we come across as it happens, follow us on Twitter.

Salty New Review
at
10:00 AM
People often ask me what kind of candy I review on Candy Critic, and I give them a list. I like to review hard candy, gum, chocolate, cakes, cookies, chips... Most of the time I'm stopped at this point and told that chips (and other salty snacks) are not candy. I guess I use the word candy in a pretty broad sense, but I make the rules, so salty snacks on Candy Critic, are considered candy.

Chocolate Covered Chips and Stuff
at
9:47 AM
Cakespy from Serious Eats has a fun little article all about experimenting with dipping salty snacks in chocolate. The inspiration started with Cheetos, but they expanded their horizons and quickly learned that few things are not improved once covered in chocolate.
